Hasbro made the vehicles to go with the Titan Master class heads, but Takara is splitting the heads and vehicles apart from each other for the Japanese releases, giving the vehicles to the Deluxe class figures and the heads to the Legends class figures.

The little tank/jet/gun that comes with Takara Hardhead is from Hasbro's Titan Master Terri-Bull (Horri-Bull), while the little bird/dinosaur/gun that comes with Takara Skull is from Hasbro's Titan Master Crashbash (Squeezeplay).

I think it has to do with safety concerns. The guns have to be big enough to not be considered choking hazards small enough for children to swallow.

I don't think this is the case from my discussions on safety issues with the design staff.

I asked about the safety of the small titan masters. They really seemed like choking hazards in person, because I could see my own kid swallowing or trying to swallow one. (They're really small)

It was clarified to me, that they have some kind of choking hazard test that is limited to objects thinner than a straw (like a missile) where the object projects from something. Basically, if it's small, thin, and moves; it has to be this and that long (like 3 inches).

Otherwise, it's just not an issue. I mean, look at legos. Lots of small parts, no worries about choking hazards.

irc, the infamous "drop test" was clarified to pertain only to toys that fly or are for "simulated flight", in short, Fort Max is a base, not a ship and the drop test has nothing to do with him...

Sabrblade wrote:The gaps are the unfortunate result of making the guns large enough while economically using as minimal an amount of plastic as budget-ly possible.

I think this is a far more likely answer.

Yeah, but if they make them smaller, like Arcee's guns, they could use the same amount of plastic without those gaps? The guns seem too big and clunky to me.

Maybe I should try to pick up some basic 3D modeling. :)

Yeah. But the price for the takara pack that comes with them is higher so it comes out to the same thing, plus Hasbro gives you a bonus head :) Like that you also get to pick and choose. If you dont want any then you dont have to buy any and you can choose to only spend money on the deluxe toy when it comes to Hasbro. I personally like this better.

I thought that Hardhead vehicle was Terri-Bull's. Nightbeat's is that drill tank.

You are correct. It is Terri-Bull's, not Nightbeat's. I keep getting that one mixed up.

With the beast wars guys, its not really about importing, these are convention exclusives. So its the equivalent of someone in japan wanting to buy Botcon/SDCC exclusives. The only way an american will be able to get him is through BBTS, like the link I put below.

And Wolfman Jake, it should be same price as the LGEX toys of last year for deluxes:

Probably because I care a lot more about the Beast Wars guys. I imagine it'd be pretty expensive importing all three tho...

So, maybe $40 Rattrap and Waspinator and $60-65 for Rhinox? Not bad, all told. Better than you would do buying directly from the TFCC for BotCon exclusives of equivalent size, that's for sure. :P

By the way, can anyone tell if there's really ANY appreciable difference in the decos between Legends Rattrap and LG-EX Rattrap? They look identical for me except for the Beast Mode eyes being black on the EX version, which is more accurate for the Beast Mode, but the red eyes for the standard Legends release are much more accurate to the Robot Mode, which is the mode I would have him displayed in more often than not. I'm trying to figure out if there is really any reason otherwise to get the EX version of Rattrap. LG-EX Rhinox is a must for his less shiny metallic "skin." Same goes for Waspinator versus his previous Takara Generations version. The lack of the shiny paint looks a lot more on model in terms of coloring, though the deep green and gold did look nice too.

The space between Galvatron's "Headmaster" unit and the "Transtector" mask is still problematic. It looks like it should fit a lot more snuggly together. For instance, the chin on the Headmaster looks like it should plug into the back of the chin strap on the helmet façade. In the pics above, Galvatron's got a weird "double chin" deal going on.

Can someone please explain to me what is the gimmick with Galvatron and his mask over the face bit?

It's just so damn weird that I really really hope a 3rd Party comes forward with a much better looking head piece! :VEHI:

I think it it was a way to have the traditional galvatron crown as well as the headmaster gimmick.
