So I got my war hammer Bee about a week ago, and he's a pretty good figure - flawed, but still good.
Starting off in vehicle mode, one of the biggest things that differentiates this Bee from the regular release is the shade of yellow used - it's much better looking and more screen accurate than the original. There are a few more paint apps in vehicle mode than the original, but not that many. That being said, the paint was a pretty easy fix.
What wasn't an easy fix (and something I'm still trying to figure out) is getting the secondary wings to line up in vehicle mode. Whenever I transform him either one or both of them will leave a gap that I'm not sure how to fix. I'm not sure if this issue applied to the original TLK Bee or not. Is there a way to keep it from doing this?
Robot mode looks really good! The way the legs transform is a cool innovation - and the way the figure pulls it off is one of the areas that I feel is better than the studio series. Paint work again needed some help, but another fairly easy fix. The plasma cannon is thankfully remolded to fit on his right arm, which is great, although the method of detaching and reattaching the arm/cannon is MUCH better on the studio series. The hammer is cool, and has a hinge so that it stores in vehicle mode looking like some kind of tank barrel.
Overall this figure is really good! Overall it's not as good as SS Bee (which had the advantage of learning from the mistakes of this mold), but it's still good. The feet aren't loose enough to be annoying, and none of the parts pop off except for the hands. When it comes to this figure compared to the standard deluxe, I guess it's situational. If you're not a big fan of Bee and you were able to find the wave 3 deluxe at retail, you might not need this one. In my case, however, as a fan of Bumblebee and having never seen the wave 3 deluxe in stores, this was totally worth it. Especially when online prices for the standard deluxe TLK Bee were only around $10 less than this one. For a great shade of yellow, better paint apps, a more accurate remolded plasma cannon
and a hammer, this figure was totally worth it and a great addition to my collection.
