If you're honestly having an interwebs fight over a toy, that makes you a fanboy too, bub.

nobody likes complainers. but worse than that, people complaining and giving no insight as to why theyre complaining. its easy to argue against something thats as juvenile as "that sucks barf lol" because we can easily list the myriad of positives. you want to be taken seriously? be constructive and respectful. i say i dislike things all the time, but i do it without insulting the product or those who enjoy it.
Pot. Kettle. Black.ppl on here are way too over the top at times.

Which is why I am the one laughing. Hard.

Well, it's only happening now because of a poll. Had he not won, any other winner would have still been someone who came years after all the early G1 dudes who are currently getting MPs. Regardless of this MP being Star Saber, it was gonna be a special case figure outside of the norm no matter who would have won.Optimizzy wrote:I mean, this guy should see a masterpiece figure...but should it have been right now when I would have liked to have seen another character?

I know the takara-fans are really pleased with this, but to me this is another misuse of resources. That's just my opinion though. To me it is annoying that time and energy is being devoted to video game transformers, ho-hum masterpieces, and other wastes of time instead of true and unique development of the brand.
They are good at painting the figures and the masterpieces are really wonderful, but I just feel that the efforts get misdirected.
I mean, this guy should see a masterpiece figure...but should it have been right now when I would have liked to have seen another character?
That's my two cents.

If this were a random, isolated incident done out of the blue for ill good reason that for the sake of doing it, I'd agree in finding it to be odd and out of place. But it's meant to be a celebratory case for the 30th anniversary.Optimizzy wrote:I know, I remember reading about it. That's the problem. It was going to be special case figure outside of the norm". I know, I remember reading about it. That's the problem. It was going to be special case figure outside of the norm". I mean, that's cool...but I still think it is a strange jump to do. Especially when I'd like to see some other thing first. Got no problem with a post season 3 character, there are just some I'd like to see first, and it seems like there is a very eclectic plan. I mean, maybe after we get the transforming famicon and the bears that turn into bears (robot bears) we'll get some more focus on MPs.
I know people have their own projects and stuff... but I'd prefer a focus on mainline toys and masterpieces. I could do without all the weird stuff like transforming ballcaps.
Well...at least for a while
your opinion. fair enough. and yeah, they do follow very "anime"ish designs after the western G1. but thats expected.Optimizzy wrote:I don't like Star Saber. I hate the look of the toy. this is what i take issue with. misuse of resources? so MP's 1 through 23 were all for us, and your upset about them getting one directed towards them personally? we dont deserve ALL the attention (especially with how we act sometimes).Optimizzy wrote:I know the takara-fans are really pleased with this, but to me this is another misuse of resources. when should they get some love? after all of western G1 is exhausted?Optimizzy wrote:I mean, this guy should see a masterpiece figure...but should it have been right now when I would have liked to have seen another character?

there is a linear progression, in a sense. the only out of place MP's weve gotten so far are because theyre mold mates with the season 1 guys theyve been making. aside from starsaber of coarse, but those were special circumstances. whether or not that opens the doors to a movement of different MP's, we'll see. i certainly wouldnt mind if they skipped ahead sometimes (i really want an MP galvatron and company).Optimizzy wrote:Ok. the idea that the first MPs were "all for us" is a little silly. They had "western" g1 stuff too. And if I remember correctly, they get the MPs first...if we even get them at all.
What I'm saying is that we should do MPs with the proper linear progression. The Major 1984 lineup then 1985 and so on. I just don't want them focusing on something else and missing characters. That's all. I want Shockwave...and wouldn't mind Insecticons.
The idea that they were graciously creating stuff just for us "western" fans is not my understanding of the situation.

I would like that too. I know Star Saber is a special consideration. Other than him not being a real favorite of mine, I'm not upset about him really. What I don't like are the little extra stuff no one really asked for. Transforming pens? Looks cool but not really what I want to get. That sort of stuff.
I just don;t want them to be too distracted. That's a little pushy of me, but it's how I kinda feel.

absolutely. and silly things like that pay the billsmegatronus wrote:Sentinel does the pens (and the giant non-transforming Scorponok).Optimizzy wrote:I would like that too. You know, Takara and Hasbro license out the TF brand quite a bit. They're not personally invested in every TF product that comes out.
The Japanese G1 shows come after season 3, replacing "The Rebirth". The movie and season 3 are kept.Delta Magnus wrote:(Once I've finished Season 2 of G1 I think I'll watch the Japanese trilogy.
