ah but they're more of an accessory, they're not needed for either mode.
Gun barrel is a necessity for Shockwaves gun mode.

I can't imagine they'd do a MP figure and have a part like that set aside. Reeks of laziness.
But I agree, it will become part of the backpack in some fashion. It could even make up the backpack entirely.
If there are lights and sounds, they may just go with the small button batteries rather than large AA batteries to save on space.
Or just ditch it all together, are lights and sounds really important in a Masterpiece figure?

I dont understand, isnt his backpack the gun handle? Why are we thinking it will be the barrel?
And there wont be any sounds, just lights, and I do find those important in an MP like this one. MPs are supposed to be the be all end all versions of figures and since Shockwave was an 80s space gun, I would love it to have some lights for added fun and playability.fenrir72 wrote:

They were never there. Anyways, this guy is reported early 2016, I think we are looking at the final prorotypes and the next part is merely colouring. I dont think much will be changed from what Taktom has planned right now when they showed these.Emerje wrote:I HATE light piping

The backpack is the back of the gun. The handle is the legs. IUf you ever find the G1 toy in the wild, being Sockwave or the black Shackwave, take it. It's engeneering on par with G1 Jetfire.

That is a pretty good G1 toy right there. Masterpiece definitely has to work to beat that!

Simple. Add articulation.
Rodimus Prime wrote:I also think the gun barrel doesn't detach, but simply folds down on his back and into the backpack, because of the hinge behind his head.

And improve the shoulder joints. The original design on them is a major weakness.

They look like the little dial things that were towards the back of the gun mode.

It was joint that the backpack is on to become the end of the gun on the original.
Looking at it, I can't think of any reason the barrel end wouldn't just fit inside the backpack. It seems much bigger than it needs to be, and I think that's a clip there on the top of the pack.
Looking forward to this no matter what, though.

Yeah... but the g1 toy didn't have them on his butt... still doesn't detract from it at all nonetheless.

Uh, yes he did. And so did the animation model. Did you read the last couple of pages?

I'm kinda wondering, what size class is Shockwave in? It's pretty obvious that Hot Rod is about the size of the other car bots, is Shockwave in the same size group as Ironhide?
My guess is he'll be about Soundwave's height. It looks like Hotrod is the same size of Tracks, Who is a head taller than sideswipe according to some in-hand images. Shockwave according to the pictures is several heads taller than Hotrod.
Cyberpath wrote:Perhaps another piece of evidence that MP Shockwave won't have a detachable gun-barrel piece?
It appears that the barrel's "fin" is poking through a slit in Shockwave's backpack.
