DMSL wrote:Great review but i don't like this set at all. Hardly no detail in the individual components, no robot modes either. Then on top of that the scale between each of these is way off. The arm and leg components are too small, the head component is too big. Scavenger is pretty darn big, wish the Voyager Demolishor was actually made in that scale with electronics that would rock.

Now that i think of it why didn't Hasbro make us a decent combiner. Leader classes of Mixmaster and Scavenger/Demolishor and Voyagers of the others. Scrap the poopy third modes and it could've been done. Ok maybe you would've had a slightly compromised Devastator but it would be better than this Fisher Price waste of plastic.

Epic fail.

=;

C'mon buddy. First off... the Robots that combine to form Devastator DO NOT have individual robot modes. Let's just say he has 7 different personalities. If Hasbro wanted to make 'a decent combiner', then they would. But they wouldn't make individual robot modes for these because it's just not what they were.

Secondly, you wanted the components to be bigger? Take into consideration the price now... $110? With the increased size, this figure will have no stability, the components will probably not stick together due to gravity, and you're looking at an over $200 market price, something any collector, RoTFan, and toddler's mom is not going to buy.

Looks only a "little taller" to me. Either way, Leader Prime's about only one foot tall. Seeing how Devy measures to Leader Prime, I'd say he's definitely shorter than two feet...

...Wait! Where did the news of him being 2 feet two originate from anyway? I remember hearing it, but who was it that told us all originally?

after finally seeing the movie, this whole "non robot mode" thing actually makes sense now. because in the movie, we never see anyone transform into the vehicles and them combine. the vehicles are all just sitting around and seem to get sucked together and form Devastator. and then while he's busy climbing the pyramid, we see some of the Constructicons in robot mode being involved in the attack on the soldiers and the kids.

so it makes it seem that just like the toys, there are two sets of Constructitcons. one set thats just vehicles and one set that becomes robots.

I'm sure Reprolabels will have a field day with this figure. Especially with the face (what with the figure having a silver face and the final movie model having a red face).

ugh, i can't wait to see someone do an amazing repaint of this horrendous beast. why such a lack of detail is beyond me. if it looked like less of a tonka truck, i would think about shelling out the cash. but that is just ridiculous.

I'm aware of that.

What I meant was: considering they didn't bother giving the components individual robot modes(in movie or toy form). "Scrapped" was in fact the wrong choice of words.

When I first heared this toy was going to be released, I was ready to camp out at my local Toys R Us. However after this review I will not be picking this beast up (at least not for the initial price). The combined robot looks kinda cool but thats where the WOW factor ends for me. Here are my issues with this toy.

1. The lack of detail for each vehicle is inexcusable. Really, how much would a little extra paint drive up the cost?

2. As everyone else has stated, the scaling is way off and just too wired for vehicles who are supposed to be a team. I know Scavenger is supposed to be the biggest, but wasn't Longhaul a beast in the movie as well?

3. I just cannot get over the cheap plastic look of this set. I think labeling this Tonka is a compliment. I'm thinking more Fisher Price.

4. Finally, wasn't Devi supposed to be the biggest and baddest mofo in the world? Well being only a few inches taller than Prime just doesn't give me that feel for a bad dude such as Devi. Also was it just me or was Devi in the movie kind of a let down? I was expecting him to do some serious a$$ kicking.

I think the toy is quite movie accurate...he was lame in the movie and the toy follows suit!

Huh... wait.

So doesn't this make him a movie "inaccurate" Devs?

the 7 nontransforming elements are the ones that form Devs in the movie, right?

and the OTHER 6 constructicon team is doing battle, and we never see an Overload "clone" right?

(i saw Scrapper, Mixmaster, Longhaul, Rampage.. it seems hightower was there
when the constructicons descend into the trench to revive megatron, you get a closeup of his
crane?...
Demolishor got killed at the beginning...)

So shouldn't it have included the overload component? :-? :? :???:

...also... who is "the little one" that serves as parts for Megs?

Someone who visited the factory or something.

As for him being much taller... well it depends whether you measure height by where the top of the head is or where the top of his hump is.

Why do all the pics of this toy have him as a biped when in the film he is a quadroped?

For the price the transformations really ought to be more complex - they're easy by G1 standards and they've made very little attempt to match the CGI, which doesn't look like a pile of vehicles. They should have made more effort to integrate the vehicles of the body.

a $100.00 for a LEADER CLASS FIGURE!!!????

yup and Prime is still taller, i look at their eyes for height not the top of head.

unless he can stand with his legs extended then i guess he's taller than prime but only for a little.

Isn't there a bigger version of Devastator that will be available in 2010?????

Why would you go to their eyes for height? I doubt there will be a bigger one in 2010 or whatever, unless you want to pay triple the price, which I'm sure you won't.

I'm sticking with my "YESSSS!!!" But first...

Night00glider wrote:A) Too expensive (100$ ?? In malaysia its MYR 500 !!!)

WHAT!? YOU SERIOUS??? And over there halfway across the world the US fans are complaining about deluxes going $10 to $15 or so when we got to fork out RM60 for 'em (roughly $2 more according to current conversion rates)... Pah, stop complaining already about rising prices, you guys still have it cheaper. So, back to the topic: where did you get this price from? Don't quote eBay prices, I think them sellers have as much of an idea on the retail price at this moment just as much as we do. That is to say, not much at all.

Night00glider wrote:B) Lack of detail and paint

Eh, well, big deal for me, I gots me some black, silver and gold marker pens, some dabbing in spots where my fingers can't reach and he'll be looking miles better (cheap methods that work without having to buy heavy-duty testors or tamiya paint...yesss...)

Night00glider wrote:C) Mixmaster doesnt shut up when transform him

You can always either: 1)Ignore the noisy fella 2)Wear ear plugs or 3)Yank out the batteries 8-}

Night00glider wrote:D) Doesnt have Overload like in the Legend class

Don't need 'im. I have seen him in the movie, killing my notion that he merely exists in the EZ Devastator as back structural support for the legends combiner, but personally, I don't really think he's necessary. Too many chefs(combining limbs?) spoil the broth(combiner?). Besides, I'd like to have Devastator's number of components as 6, the same number as that on G1 Devastator. Definitely passing the legends version.

Night00glider wrote:E) Cant trasnform into individual character

*shrugs shoulders* Oh well. Like I said, big deal for me. I'm already happy and impressed with the excellently-done non-combining members (Demolishor, Rampage and Mixmaster are stuck on the top of my shelf with Long Haul joining them soon, waiting for pictures of the other 3 to surface).

1st off, excellent review.. great job, top notch.

on another note..

What a colossal Hunk of Plastic Junk!!

besides the obvious gimmick of the head, the constructicons are less detailed then expected, colors are totally without deviation on the individual bots.. and overall, it looks like a toy for 5 year old to play with..Not anywhere near as well thought out or planned like the HA bumblebee..

I'd be embarrassed to even display Optimus Leader class with that piece of utter crap..

I'd buy it anyways, but only on clearance.. and even then it'd have to be when I'm just desperate for a new bot...

On a side note:

Hasbro has been really kinda missing the boat with these Supreme Class figures to tie in on the movie..

I mean Ultimate BumbleBee ( too expensive, cheesy, and stupidly ridiculous..)
And yes, for the record, I know Ultimate bumblebee is not a supreme class fig..Damn Know it alls!
then devastator.. what a joke.. maybe they will redeem themselves in transformers 3? who knows..??

Still no sign of Leader Starscream, Blackout, and or a leader version of any other well liked bot..

what a shame..tisk, tisk..

they have a limited window to cash in to the mass appeal.. and squander it with something like this..
