I heard there were QC issues with Pedal, yours were minimal, but I didn't know your box was all jacked. Sorry Brosif :(

I'm happy to report that my LP is QC free. He's so pretty. New head rocks. And being a Diaclone dude, I flipped that Decepticon symbol away but it hurt cause he wears it so well 8-)

The box is minor. the toy is what matters most. Just gave me a slight rub.
Only QC quirk is his right elbow can barely hold up the gun. Other than that he's all good Tiger Wood! ;)^

DUDE! that insignia is ab-so-lute-ly GORGIOSO! That thing is staying out for sure. The copper paint is dope-sauce! =P~

I like the Green Ranger. Outside of that, there's not much in MMPR I care about. I have the Zord's as you know, but I also have the Gold Dragon Morpher and Dragon Dagger. Then I saw this:

Image

A hundred bucks? The hell? The Dagger has gold plating and was only 130 (I think). This damn TRU Legacy line is expensive as hayyyel.

You could probably gut a hot spot and make it fit in there. But then again, they are pretty tiny these days.

Hmmmm..... now I need a TF mobile hot spot :-?

So I've been watching "How I met your mother" on Netflix. I just started Season 5 (of 9).

HE STILL HASN'T INTRODUCED HIS FUTURE WIFE.

This show is a tease to the point where its actually starting to piss me off :-x

Yeah, it's a big cock tease. They milk that for all its worth. And the tease only gets worse, at some point I stopped caring. Might as well stick around for the rest.

Also, isn't Mosby the biggest schmuck? I like the rest of the cast, especially Marshall and Lily.

But a good show with a bunch of fun running jokes!

Also,going open them new bots?

Yeah. Barney is my favorite, but Ted is a total tool. I think the thing that bug me the most is he gets a girlfriend, and you find out right away that its not his wife. It makes most of the show feel irrelevant. And lets not mention that giant tease about goat and yellow umbrella. They teased that crap for like three seasons making you think that that's the moment, and it leads to literally nothing.

I'm properly watching Game of Thrones from start to finish. I've always caught a few episodes here or there, but never watched them all.

Nice. I'm an odd duck, in that most of my shows are bought on Bluray and watched which puts me perpetually a year behind the rest of the world. I bought Season 5 of GOT but haven't popped it in yet 8-}

My brain is random tonight.

You know what else? LG31 Fortress Maximus. I'm totally F'd.
The only TF's in the past two years to sell out pre-orders (for some strange reason) are TAV's. So I waited. And especially with his high price, I wasn't worried about Max. But he is sold out, EVERYWHERE. And most of the other Legends HM's are too. With Metro, there ended up being 4 versions so I figured waiting was the smart play. Why did I have to waffle on the big guy?! :-(

I may be wrong on this, but I feel like at AmiAmi they don't put all their stock up for pre-order, so when it hits there is some available. Not sure about this though, so...

On binge watching,
Jak. I'm telling you. If you haven't already seen Vikings. You have to. You know I love my fantasy genre. Swords and sorcery, and such. And GOT is great! But Vikings knocks GOT's d!kk in the dirt. And it's not even fantasy. It's history.
Just please add it to the "to watch" list.

Battle Of The Brutici - Seibertron User Review: Unite Warriors, Combiner Wars, G2 Bruticus

Postby shajaki » Sun Jul 10, 2016 6:53 pm

Motto: "A man who wants nothing is invincible."
Folks, between Hasbro Combiner Wars, Takara Unite Warriors, and the Generation 2 Collection Pack, what's the right one for you? Keep in mind this is just one guys opinion, but I'll break down my experiences. So without further ado, lets get started!

Image

In vehicle mode, and I'm not getting specific because I don't know exactly what he is, I think the clear winner is UW Onslaught. The sheer amount of paint apps (even on the guns!) is tremendous. It almost makes Hasbro G1 CW Onslaught look like a prototype. The G2 'Slaught could have a little more bling camo, but he's pretty decent.

Image

Robot modes are all pretty great, each faithful to what they're representing.
BUT.
I hate the purple lights on Hasbro's G1 CW knees, TakaraTomy's knee locking tabs (for combined mode) aren't solid, and G2's knees suffer the same problem as Victorion's Pyra Magna. Damn their collective knees! They all look great though.

Image

Image

This fella is a mixed bag. To me UW Vortex has the better copter mode, and CW G1 Vortex has the better robot mode. The wonderful bright colors on Hasbro's really pop, however those popping colors unfortunately detract from the alt mode. On the flip side, UW Vortex looks proper in chopper mode (see what I did there?) but kinda muted by being basically just two colors (although they do go so far as to make his combiner peg two colors which is a nice touch). And G2 Vex, well, he's my bro because I had him as a kid.

Image

Image

Brawl Brawl Brawl... we all know that the mold has drawbacks, but that's not news. Between UW and CW G1 Brawl, he remains the most unchanged member of the team. No one made their decision between the two Brutici based on Brawl. I will say, I appreciate the G2 version more though. The other two just look boring in comparison.

Image

Image

I wasn't sold on him using the Rook mold as I don't see Swindle as bruiser, and that's what that mold says to me. The head sculpt is great, but when I played with UW Swindle I fell in love. The purple paint they used is glorious, and the bits of silver painted details add a surprising amount to him. And he has another two-colored combiner peg as well! As for G2, I wish there was more camo present in bot mode. Otherwise he's represntin'.

Image

There's a lot to say about these figu-

Image

Image

Image

Alright alright, get back in line boys.

Image

Anyways, many people were upset that Hasbro made him a jet, others argued a jet made more sense but wanted a new head. Regardless, most people have made their peace with him because he mans his post as an arm pretty well. G2-Off is alright, but the head is more glaringly out of place in white for some reason.

Image

The from scratch UW Blast-Off... isn't all I expected. I was on his side until he was in hand, but he has some issues. The chest/beer gut isn't bad in hand, but I don't like how high his shoulders are. His neck piece pops off all the time on my copy, and in arm mode his legs just do not want to stay together. Overall, his QC issues bum me out but I do like him.

Image

Image

Image

It's obvious that TakaraTomy was going for cartoon accuracy, but it appears that Hasbro was going for original G1 toy accuracy. Based on those merits, I feel that one is not superior to the other as they both represent something different.

Image

Image

Throw Generation 2 on top of it (with it's Takara United'esq shiny paint apps) and there's a flavor for everyone!

Image

Final Thoughts:
Out of the three, the G2 set is my #1. As a whole, they're unified spectacularly with that shiny purple camo and the chest piece is simply stunning. But my favorite figures out of all three sets is tied between Hasbro CW G1 Vortex and UW Swindle. I honestly think whatever Bruticus you choose, you can't go wrong. The only Combiner I think that could upstage him is possibly UW Computron, but only time will tell on that! Shajaki out!

I really wanted to pick up all three but after getting the Hasbro one when he came out I felt "this is enough to for me" Bruticus is my favorite combiner, has always been and I wanted to get all three to display but I decided it's not necessary. I considered getting takaras at least until I saw the color scheme but for me, it's way too bright and flashy. I like the dark, muted melancholy colors of hasbro's and blastoff looks great and well balanced with Vortext, Takaras just looks too big and unbalanced with vortex. I finally got to see some of the reviews for him and man is he not a very good and stable figure.

Great write-up, Shajaki! Can't wait to bust open UW Bruticus and G2 Bruticus hopefully this week. Gotta get through the Titans Return figures first before I can do that though. Thanks again for the article. This is fantastic!

I'm bummed about the light shade of brown used on Takara's Blast Off more than anything with him. If they had used a darker brown like the original toy or Hasbro's Blast Off, I'd be way more excited about him.

Good call on CW Vortex and UW Swindle. I think I agree.

I have UW Bruticus and I really love the set. It's everything I'd want in a Bruticus figure. I don't really have a problem with UW Blast-Off's head coming off, but I'm pretty careful with transforming the figure to a limb. But when it does come loose, I just pop it back into place. I don't think any permanent damage will result from this. And I agree that UW Blast-Off looks better in-hand as his chest looks disproportionately huge in pictures.

I really want to pull the trigger on a CW G2 Bruticus set, as that was the first combiner I ever had, but I really wanted a proper representation of Vortex and Blast-Off (a four-blade main rotor on Vortex and either a proper head and/or shuttle alt-mode for Blast-Off). In addition, I don't feel there are enough purple camouflage splotches on the figures, especially on some bot modes, and I'm puzzled over the lack of G2 Decepticon symbols.
