Massive shame that Blaster, Soundwave and Galvatron will now suffer from a terrible gimmick i wanted all three characters but now I really won't get them. shame.
Aaron Archer basically said the same thing about losing heads for years and I always just shook my head. This is the line geared towards older children/teens and collectors. Is losing parts really that big a problem? Assuming you're an adult collector, do you really have trouble losing pieces, still? I just don't get the argument. Leave the head in, if you transform it maybe you'll have to set it aside for a moment. Is setting it off to the side any worse in reality from just turning it backwards and down into a hole to the degree where you won't allow yourself to have fun with something? These are all rhetorical questions, because I think this argument is just silly. If you don't like the toys, hey, no biggie, that's you doin' you, just would hate to think someone might deprive themselves of potentially good representations of characters that they enjoy in their hobby because of anxiety over losing a part.

Also folks, be prepared for price hikes. If you think you're going to get to mess with that Skullcruncher for $10-$13, you should probably go ahead and save up another $7-$10 now and reset your expectations. I fully anticipate a pricing model similar to the Star Wars Black Series.

Although I am happy for those that are excited for it.

I agree with all of this. I can accept and understand characters that have always been headmasters or gimmicks like hardhead and skullcruncher but what I can't accept and don't like is changing galvatron who in idw specifically states he hates headmasters, being made as an actual headmaster. It's like having johnny storm be played by Michael b Jordan, it shouldn't have happened.

I would have gladly accepted a repainted remoulded gens leader megatron as galvatron as the body type is pretty much the same in idw.

Would alternatively buy a Hasbro US retail fortress maximus head on its own if anyone had one for sale.

See, this is the reasonable counterpoint to Galvatron being a Headmaster. I disagree and look forward to the toy, it doesn't bug me, but your reason here for being bugged by it makes sense.

thanks for removing my end statement to my comment :-? .

Of course I would get annoyed if i lost a part especially their blooming HEAD :HEADHURTS: :HEADHURTS: . i'm an adult collector with visitors, a wife, children & a vaccuum cleaner I can try my damnedest to not lose part but yes it can still happen not often but it still can happen. I  to you if your perfect enough not lose anything.

heck...i still hope i can find my takara Magmatron sword blade 10 years later.

If there was an option to swivel a permanent head with a headmaster gimmick peg/hole, i would buy these toys in a heatbeat.

It still bothers me some, but since the Headmaster part can be ignored in robot mode (which he looks like he'd be in most of the time for me considering how good it looks) it can be overlooked. And Considering the titan master is Megatron, that added level of coolness kinda softened up the "Galvs hates headmasters" thing :BOT:

Toys before fiction is pretty much how it works. Cyclonus was a combiner I'm CW, yet he remained normal in More than Meets the Eye. Basically I don't think Galvatron will be having a change of heart in the comics any time soon.

Agreed, but it is still just a tick off, even if it doesn't happen in fiction :BOT:

Of course I've lost things, stuff happens. Point I was trying to make is that this factor doesn't stop me from buying stuff if it looks fun. My dog's puked on toys, eaten limbs, almost swallowed Kreons, and drooled on countless other things  That's just life, but to your point, I suppose it is fair if the perception of the risk that something will happen is so high that it makes it not worth it. Feels like I've got a better understanding of that viewpoint now from you though, so good stuff!

And yeah, I snip quotes. Saves page space and I think it helps make the forums more pleasant for reading by others, sorry if it bugged you :)

I know people like it and of course it all comes down to personal opinion. I'm just disappointed that galvatron is being done this way. I see that toys and fiction intertwine. I didn't and wouldn't buy a combiner cyclonus for the same reason. Just a pity in my own personal opinion.

It is funny though how in idw galvatron verbally discussed his disgust at headmasters and hasbro made him one.

Not just IDW. G1 cartoon Galvatron wasn't super impressed with Headmasters and Targetmasters either. But I'd rather have a decent, larger-than-deluxe Galvatron get released with a gimmick that doesn't compromise the toy, rather than not get him at all just because he doesn't fit the current aesthetic.

Let's not get into that discussion again, third parties operate under different rules to hasbro so comparisons aren't fair

Not really there is nothing there that really Pi**** on anyone's picnic other than possibly Rewind.

Different strokes for different folks really. If I was a huge fan of Headmasters I'd be looking at the 3rd parties for the "Premium" representations.

The obvious case of where one third party might be going "Oh Sh**" is Fanprojects - as let's be honest their Skullcruncher is pretty poor and Hasbro's one is certainly better than that.

Hardhead is semi-accurate he's a nice smallish size that might be useful most 3rd party Hardhead's will be bigger - I've always liked Hardhead and I own the Toyworld one - which I like a lot and I will buy others as they present themselves.

I think Hasbro & 3rd party sometimes complement each other (i.e. a 3rd party addition makes a Hasbro toy even better) but there rarely trip over each other.. aside from this Skullcruncher.

Take Stripes for example if someone made a nicer one of him that was a Cassette I'd be very pleased to see it - also Hasbros Blaster - which I do actually really like and I find appealing in many ways isn't going to stop me from eventually picking up the KFC one too.

Since 3rd parties tend to so often obsess over the collector focused Masterpiece aesthetic what ever Hasbro makes isn't really competing with them anyway.

Even the Takara MP Hot Rod and MP Shockwave don't potentially have a huge detrimental effect on the 3rd party ones if the 3rd party ones offer features like lights and metal pieces and larger size. Or it's a representation of Rodimus rather than Hotrod for example.

I do think the Hasbro Rodimus is good toy it's just riddled with rather serious production flaws unfortunately... But I don't think an existing 3rd party Rodimus is superior (as yet) even with it's tendency to self-destruct on you.

--------

P.s.

I would normally agree with the perversity of making Galvatron a Headmaster - I don't think it matters as much if the mini-figure is a robot as it did when they were an armoured flesh-creature.

I am a little puzzled why the mini-figure looks like G1 Megatron and yet is named otherwise.

I agree. It's one thing if it's a gun that hangs off the outside and could be knocked off, but since they were first introduced Headmaster toys have had a little cubby or cockpit for the driver or tamer to fit in. You might as well not have any accessories at all if losing them is a given.

So let me get this straight, Galvatron and Blaster are both headmasters?

That is actually pretty cool, but personally i could do without that gimmick for these two characters since they were never headmasters in G1.

Apart from the damn hollow parts all of these figures look really nice.

i actually enjoyed the headmasters gimmick as a kid and lusted after quite a few of them. Had weird wold and mind wipe but never skullcruncher. Only ever had brainstorm from the first lot.

Blaster and the possible sound wave are great additions though maybe i'd have preferred them as voyagers but won't complain as the cassettes gimmicks look interesting.

Galvatron is now on my no1 must have spot. Fans bitching bout the original g1 mould and 3rd party pressure might've something to do with it. Had a feeling he'd show as he was in the comic previews.... But he looks great, even his jet mode. The size well, he's a bulky voyager from what can tell and it kind of fits in with his anime depiction. Obviously as a toy, after megatron and ultra magnus it seems he's been shortchanged again in size class.

Not too sure about the other stuff at the mo but i do know my generations shelves are gonna get a shake up...
My personal prime collection so far in descending order of how great i reckon the toy is -
FE Prime, Silas Breakdown (Powerizer), Dreadwing (Powerizer), FE Bulkhead, Voyager StarScream (Powerizer), Ratchet, Soundwave, Arcee, Voyager Megatron (Powerizer), Wheeljack, Thundertron (Powerizer), Ultra Magnus (Powerizer), Knockout, Cliffjumper, Bumblebee,Airachnid

Ok guys, sorry I'm behind in the forum. I have a lot to respond to, so I'll just put it ALL in one post.

That's not a prototype SS. It's the actual item for the domestic release. Unlike the first samples of Blastoff with rushed paint apps.

About Galvatron, is he gnna be an upgrade of Megs? Why'd he allow Nucleon to share/cohabitate his body? Is Nucleon from Nebulos or inorganic like the cyberdroids of Cybertron?

I didn't say it was a prototype, I just said it's glued together. I hope he is just mistransforrmed somewhat, but still Galvatron looks pretty bad to me. I'm not happy with it. I AM however VERY excited about "deluxe" Hardhead. He seems to be a similar size to voyager Roadbuster.

Hellscream9999 wrote:I think the gist of this line is 'piloting titan-sized versions of themselves to fight titan-sized enemies' so, by that logic, megatron is piloting a galvatron-styled mech suit...

...which is kinda stupid. I was excited about a new Galvatron, but now this makes me wanna hang my head in shame.

Wolfman Jake wrote:Blaster's "headmaster" unit is apparently called Twincast, though. I think there's definitely more than meets the eye to the story behind this gimmick.

...or it was a cheap way to come up with a name for his "titan master". I am more excited about Blaster than Galvatron though. I actually kinda like it.

I'd say the same thing about the deluxes. (Hardhead YESSS!!!) Galvatron though, not so much. >:oP

Yeah I noticed that too... I just dismissed it as one of the combiner hunters, but then again, why would one of those be showed off at THIS convention??? :-?

Hellscream9999 wrote:Wow, galvatron looks to be about as tall as defensor/bruticus' leg is long, that's substantially smalle than any pic makes him out to be

Yep. I thought he was a leader class at first, but was KINDA happy to find out he's a voyager, so he'd go with CW Cyclonus very well, but the figure looks horrible to me. I'm sorry I keep hammering on Galvatron, but he just does. THAT KIBBLE ON THE BACK OF HIS ARMS IS DRIVING ME NUTS.

*catches breath* There, here's my responses. ;)

My final thoughts on all of these guys:

-Blaster looks okay.
-The Legends cassettes look great.
-Galvatron looks stupid.
-The new "deluxe" figures revealed here (Hardhead and Skullcruncher) look amazing, and should be called voyagers.
-The separate titan masters with their vehicle things... AHHHH I have no idea what to think about em. I REALLY hope Nightbeat, and the other little separate titan masters, will get bodies.

My wishes for next Titan Wars/Titan Master figures:

-Mindwipe (deluxe or voyager.)
-G1 style Brainstorm (deluxe or voyager, already been rumored.)
-Chromedome (deluxe or voyager.)
-And maybe a voyager Rodimus Prime to battle this stupid looking Galvatron.
-Heck, maybe even an Alligatorcon/Optimus Prime retool of Skullcruncher.
