I guess the only thing I don't really like is Optimus's face.
Is this the second optimus with a nose? The first being Machine Wars OPtimus.

I'm going to have to get used to it.

i saw bits and pieces of the AEC trilogy (actualy i never saw any of the armada which was drawn)but found nothing to like, it just seemed so souless esp with the animation. The new animation is immediately more engaging, i so much prefer real animation to those god awful CGI models.

For hand-drawn, Armada didn't look this good. IMO the reason the animation here seems more engaging is BECAUSE of its relative simplicity, like Timm's DCAU. The TF can actually MOVE for the first time in a TF show since Beast Machines, and you can actually see them get from Point A to Point B instead of just some cheap cut to a still-frame shot of them smacking each other, or even cruddy CGI models that just saunter around during what's supposed to a fight scene. I hate that sh**.

Even though I've still seen better animation these days - The Batman, for one - as a TF show goes, this is looking better than what we've been getting IMHO.
I got yer new Captain America right here!

I don't like the designs but I do like the animation. It is a much higher quality than Armada was. Transformers look great when they are drawn. I will def give this a chance.

"Megatron asking about hte allspark just, at least to me, sounds like a ploy to cash in on the popularity of the movie"

They're doing a continuity-restart off the back of a live-action movie that made eleventy bazillion dollars and a toy line that sells out faster than their factories can make it, and you DIDN'T think they'd use familiar story elements from the film in the new show? I suppose you're right in a literal sense- it is cashing in on the new movie. I wouldn't call it a 'ploy', however, so much as simple common sense.

The new animation doesn't look quite as fluid as the Comicon reel, but it's still streets ahead of the last three series. If the writing is up to much, it could be a fun ride. Perhaps not as cosmic as we're used to, but if the series continues past the first 26 episodes there'll be plenty of time for that.

Not bad, really. Theme song's pretty good, animation looks good, still not too happy about the way the characters look, but I can deal with that. Kaye sounds pretty good as a "younger" Optimus.

Ugh horrible. I think this is worse than what everyone says Micheal Bay did to Transformers. Even worse the storyline is based on the movie and Allspark so now you have everything in the movie except even crappier.

I don't want my memories and thoughts of Transformers to be tarnished by this P.O.S.

I know we want to continue the idea and brand to a new generation, and I am by no means a G1 only fanantic... but this looks like some bastard conception from the creators of Teen Titans (hate it) and the Batman (hate it too). There is a point when animation can be TOO stylized.

My biggest issues... Prime's face and voice. That's enough to kill it for me, but then you add in the crappy animation that's styled to look LIKE anime but it's not.

I'll buy a toy or two but this looks like a big, steamy plate of crap to me.

How will this tarnish your memories?

It's not like hasbro and CN are going to get into some time machine and destroy the past.

And for those ripping on Armada's animation.
Remember that the US footage was rushed, because Cartoon Network was impatient and wanted it on air as soon as possible.

Room in that there loony-bin for me too? :P

I've been starting to look forward to this since the second or third infodump we got, and it's getting better all the time.

I just watched this, along with a couple of other clips it linked to, and it's got a lot going for it. I like the fluidity of the animation compared to recent series, and the ditching of cut-sequence transformations is a pretty big plus - nice to see them converting in situ again! ;)

I'm looking forward to seeing exactly how the Decepticons fit in. It appears that there are going to be significantly less Decepticons shown, overall, than the Autobots, and that they'll appear less often; this is supposed to make them more of a 'big bad' rather than an everyday threat. I like this a lot. If there's so few of them, however, I'm wondering how much of a threat each individual Decepticon must be...

I'm still not a fan of the cartoon-form designs in stills (the toys look cool), but it works in motion, which frankly is the important part.
I also just saw Bumblebee grow a faceplate, which made me grin like this...

eh... well the most mature thing to do would be to wait and hold judgement until we actually see the show. : ) So no bad words from me. Doesn't mean I can't pick fun at Prime and Screamer's chin tho.

I hope the Autobots notice the chin of SS and make fun of him too. <3 Then I'd really love the cartoon. LOL.

For the bazillionth time, Transformers always HAS been anime, except for Beast Wars and the Bay movie. Animated by Japanese studios, with anime elements, even if the TF's themselves were CG (Cybertron). If anything, this new series is LESS anime than any before, because it's being made in the US and based on American styles of animation, which does mimic anime in some ways, but seems to lack some of the better qualities of anime (such as realism and maturity).

Sorry, I had to get that out, because it annoys the hell out of me every time someone complains about TFs being 'too anime'.

Now, on to my reaction:

I couldn't listen to the audio (I'm in the office), but it actually does look promising. Pre-earth Prime is hideous though, images of his Earth mode are a lot better. I don't think I like the inexperienced personality, but we'll see.

Watching this, I kind of got the same nostalgia feeling which harkened back to the G1 days, despite the art style. Perhaps this series will be largely story-driven like Beast Wars, versus just being showcase to sell the toys like the past 3 series. I'm also glad to hear there will be an updated version of the old theme!

Megatron was quite menacing, I like it. And Behold! Non-blue Starscream!

Transformers animation used to be cutting edge like Beast Wars, Beast Machines (its apex in Tech and Style), Hell even Gen One was really different for its time, the Car Robot animation really took a huge step back, everything after that seemed to be in the style of its time. It seems they are trying to keep up.
