It'll be a bloody horror show trying to find Soundwave at retail. I don't see many issues finding Metroplex. I predict he could even be a shelf warmer.

shockblast2 wrote:I am not talking about storyline purposes ultimately. As far as aligned goes, IDW is only linked because of the borrowed designs of WFC/FOC versions.
According to whom?

"Aligned" refers to the story/universe.

shockblast2 wrote:As far as their storylines, or universe as some say, they are totally seperate. IDW is not G1 as it is not Beast Wras, or any other mythos that came before or after these examples.
Image

shockblast2 wrote:But I am talking toys here. And thier designs have been used interchangably. Does that mean the storylines are the same or do they exist in the same universe. NO.
Technically, the WFC/FOC designs that IDW took were specifically of the video game CG models, not those of the toys.

shockblast2 wrote:Just like what we call G1 does not exist in the IDW version.
Except that what you call "G1" differs from what everyone else does, as evidenced by so many disagreeing with you.

shockblast2 wrote:But, does that mean it is feasable to insert a IDW Trailcutter into a FOC/WFC figure collection. YES. Why? Because they use their designs.
The WFC/FOC designs were developed by High Moon Studios which Hasbro then adapted into toy form. However, High Moon Studios had no involvement in Trailcutter's toy design, nor did High Moon even create a WFC/FOC Trailcutter/Trailbreaker design.

shockblast2 wrote:Does geewun Hoist and IDW Hoist look the same? NO. Laughably no. Not even the cartoon. What about WFC/FOC Hoist? Never used. That is the beauty of it. IDW can feasibly be FOC/WFC Hoist. It CANNOT be geewun Hoist. Get it?
Not when the design has no affiliation with High Moon Studios.

That guy should go back to loving the movies. G1 is my favorite continuity and the IDW comics were another G1 reboot this time taking place in a Cold War like setting. I like the IDWverse. Simon Furman did a great job developing a great world.

IDW G1 Hoist is a modern 'classics' updated Hoist just as Sunstreaker as a Diablo Lamborgini is an updated version of the Countach Lamborgini of the 80s Transformers. This guy is basically saying that G1 can never be updated or grow and MUST be stuck in the past to appease his prejudices against G1 fans who like seeing the series evolve and update to modern times.

Prime Wheeljack got his altmode on Earth in episode 32 "Loose Cannons".

Near the end of the episode, Bulkhead said to Wheeljack: "No offense to the Jackhammer but you need an Earth-based vehicle mode," meaning that he didn't have one when he arrived on Earth.

As to why his body looked the same before and after having gotten his Earth altmode, so did Skyquake, Dreadwing, and Airachnid before and after they scanned their Earth altmode.

If Hasbro has made no G1 figures since 1990, besides the Masterpiece figures, how do you explain all of the brand new Universe 2008 figures labled "G1 Collection"? Why would Hasbro bother re-running the original series on their dedicated cable network, titling it on the listings grids as "Transformers: Generation One"? Shockblast2, you can deny it all you want, but when Hasbro itself disagrees with you, it's time to admit defeat.

Also, you might want to do a modicum of actual research before you start bring up figures like "RotF Seaspray" to bolster your argument. Seaspray was actually released in yellow packaging under the Transformers "2010" assortment, said by Hasbro itself to be a catch-all for ALL Transformers continuities and iterations so it could just put out cool figures without needing to tie them down to any particular fiction. Plus, concept and control art of that Seaspray mold were actually captioned as "Classics Seaspray." Transformers Classics, if you forgot, are all modern updates of G1 characters as per Hasbro way back in 2006. You can have your opinion on the place of G1 in the Transformers brand of 2013, but get your facts straight, man, if you really want to be taken seriously.

See, now I have strong feelings growing for MP Soundwave. And that is not good, because I will not justify spending more money on toys after this summer. :(

To whoever pointed out that this may be the Hasbro Asia versions, I agree, actually. TRU Masterpiece figures have been characterised by clear packaging, not boxes, and I doubt they'll be changing that now, really. :-?

Sabrblade - Just for the fun of a debate. I like to debate things. At the end of the day you can do whatever you wish with your figures. There is no concrete evidence that says you, I, or anyone else is right or wrong. Hasbro leaves you guessing on purpose because at the end of they day it is just a job and money to them. And they can sell way more figures by not titling them.
At the end of the day I just like the debating. That is why I asked you if you wanted to field this in the first place. I like you because you believe firmly in what you say. I respect that. Very much so. And people like you make good debates because you truly believe in what you say.
BTW, I did not recall that origin of Wheeljacks earth mode but I will take your word for it. And that is kinda disappointing to me, but hey why not get him anyhow? The car looks Cybertronian, right?

And to the guy above who said i like the movies, that is an incorrect assumption. I actually do not like the movie designs at all. My favorite universes/conntinuties in order are

FOC/WFC
G1
IDW
Prime
Rescue Bots (my children got me watching this one..)
All others except Beast Wars and Bayformers

So, no, I actually think the movies suck. Except the first one, it was ok.

To clarify, for us "G1" is an umbrella for anything related to the original series. Broken down into legitimate parts, we recognise, among other things:

1994-2001
G1 Cartoon
G1 Marvel US comics
G1 Marvel UK comics
The Japanese Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory and Zone cartoons
The Japanese Manga

Beast Wars
Beast Machines
Japanese Beast Wars II & Beast Wars Neo cartoons
Japanese Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo & Beast Wars Metals mangas

2001-present
Dreamwave comics
IDW comics
Club fiction (which is a continuity nightmare)

Yes, some of us are pedantic. Of course, Classics, Universe 2008 and Generations are G1 for us as well. The WFC and FOC designs are Aligned and not G1, were it not that some designs were used by IDW as G1 Cybertronian forms...
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Metroplex's box art reminds me of how excited I used to get as a kid, looking at the art, and the scenes on the back really helped bring them to life, I used to stair for ages working out who the really small characters were in the background. In the UK we would only get Metroplex and trypticon was never released, I used to read all the catalogues that came with the toys. All the transformers that never got rekleased in the UK always seemed better. Trypticons description said how he could walk [it was such a lame feature when I finaly got him], and Shockwave's said he could fire a laser, obviously trade description act wasn't so tight then, but I beleived it all and used to stare more at the toys I couodn't have and the drawings, more than the actual toys I had in hand. Let's face it back then the toys never quite met the vision of the designer, but we knew what they ment, thats why I hate it so much when peole say G1 wouldn't work in the movies etc as they are to blocky, they seem to think that the look of the toy is what the designer sconcept was fully realised.
Looking at the new Metroplex and his box art, and the front box art is almost as lively as an oldskool g1 reverse box art. The art gives that excitement and gives some reality and purpose to the toy. The thing this time round is when the box is opened you won't be staring at the art and the toy wondering what went wrong, the toy will be pretty close to the art, people say imagination is what play is all about, but imagination is over rated when reality is this good.

Which IDW comics? RID and MTMTE are definitely not, as they are part of the new Generation One timeline, started with Infiltration. Fall of Cybertron, Rage of the Dinobots and Beast Hunters are part of Aligned.

I was talking both old and new G1 :) I do recognise RiD and MTMTE as "new" while ReGeneration One picks up right after the old Marvel G1 comics.

This may not be the best place to post this - maybe not many will see this, but here I go anyway. Comic-con was madness as usual. Preview night is worse and worse every year. I got into the main hall at a good time -even ahead of schedule, and there were at least 70-80 people or more in line ahead of me at Entertainment earth (the booth with MP Soundwave). At this point EE was not limiting Soundwave purchases and the line was going very slow. Don't know how many & of what people were buying. By the time I got near the register, they were limiting Soundwave to 1 per person and had about 40 left. I was able to get one and one Acid storm. It was absurd getting in to the hall in the first place because people who got there late were getting in earlier than me, who had waited a good 15-20 minutes in line. Bad line management. Not fair. I knew it would be tough getting Soundwave, but not this tough - especially on preview night. I don't know how many they had Thurs. of comic-con, but sold a ton. On Friday, I heard they were just having random raffles for Soundwave, and if you didn't win, you didn't get him. Terrible. They should've set aside enough for each day. At least through Saturday. People on Fri, Sat, and Sun got severely screwed it seems.
