As for Alternity Convoy, I am very impressed. His presentation is nice, having a box that's entirely plastic (in the classiest possible way). The inner bubble that holds the toy can pop together to keep the toy on display if you so wish. "Alternity TRANSFORMERS" is tampographed onto the bubble. The instruction sheet has a poster/datafile on the back, which features his bio, tech-specs, and and some information about (I believe) the Alternity fiction, the real life toy development and the Nissan GT-R, although these are all in Japanese. It also has Action Master inspired "Power Plans" in English, with such charming technobabble as "Timestorm Detector Array" and "Alternium Hyper-frame". Very nostalgic.

As for the figure itself, as you might expect it has a reassuring weight. It feels nice, simply. Its car mode looks a little cleaner and displays less transformation lines than photos have suggested. The doors open to show the interior (which is impressively detailed for a figure this size) while opening the bonnet reveals a not-so-impressive engine block.

His transformation is complex but smooth, closer in simplicity to Henkei Ironhide than to the Binaltech toys (I still wouldn't recommend him for younger fans of course). He has a rather impressive set of automorphs when transforming from vehicle mode though sadly several of them need to be manulually reset for transforming back. His articulation is fairly extensive with all the expected joints on the legs, feet and arms, though his waist can't rotate due to his transformation. His head can also fully rotate, though he doesn't seem to be able to look up or down (I don't want to force the joint). I can't see a ball joint on him; he seems to have been made entirely with more expensive ratchet joints to compensate for the weight of the toy.

As for his looks: well, he looks real good. He is very detailed without looking too messy or organic. The best way I could describe it is that Takara took everything they learned from making the movie toys and used it in G1 style. There's lots of nice little features; he has Nissan logos on both his grille and above his rear license plate (which is blank, incidentally). His sole Autobot symbol takes the place of a belt buckle. As for his weapons, they look dangerous without being overstated. Sadly he lacks 5mm fist holes, so fans of big guns won't have too much fun. Also, from the rear in robot mode he looks fairly bland. Aside from the price, those are the only complaints I have with this figure.

I would recommend this figure highly for the serious collector, or for fans of super-realistic car modes. If you're decided against the figure or on the fence then the expense might be too much to justify owning this piece.

I can't wait to get this figure. Just waiting for it to come into BBTS. Did you get the silver one or the red one?

I got the silver. I would've got the red one if the colour were a deep luxurious cherry red. Like a real sports car. The red only looked about as good as it does on Binaltech.

Thanks for the review. This figure has been pushed back so much that I was worried that he has a lot of production problems. Hopefully mine comes in very soon.

Exactly what articulation does he have? Can you give us a list? Or a photo of a pose showing every joint?

His head IS on a balljoint (I wasn't sure) so it can rotate, he can look a little up or down, and he can tilt his head to the side to become "Concerned Prime". His shoulders have a full 360 range of rotation. His arms can also splay out at the shoulders, though this is limited by his door/wings bumping into his chest. His arms can bend roughly 90 degrees at the elbow and can fully rotate at the elbow too. His fists are on ball joints too so he can rotate fully there and move side to side and up and down a little. His hip joints can move back and forth almost 180 degrees (blocked a little by his back kibble and can splay out almost 90 degrees (extreme splits). His knees, like his elbows can bend 90 backwards, and rotate 360. His feet are also on ball joints (man there are a lot more ball joints than I originally thought) and they can move a little up, left, right and down. Oh, and his back kibble can move a little.

No, his hands are one solid piece of plastic. And his arms can spread only very little at the shoulders before the door/wings touch his chest. Between 10 and 20 degrees I'd say, if his arms are pointing downward.

I look forward to getting mine from BBTS I plan on having my current POL that he is in shipped tomorrow. Wonder how deep this line will go?

I just got the Red one. But I cannot quite figer out the feet,are they ment to tab in to the holes in the rear window panels?
Other than that a grate Toy, And the Red is Deep and Strong

They are indeed meant to tab into the holes. I find it works best if you seperate the part of his leg that's the bumper and the part that's the license plate as much as possible. It's a little fiddly.

Yeah, me too. Except, if you're buying a Megatron who turns into a car, you're effectively buying Legion.

Good review. The alt mode looks great, but small as you mentioned. It's too bad he's as pricey as a Binaltech.

It really is.

I'm so on the fence about this figure. The reviews are so positive, I want it now more than before but since I've put myself on a pretty strict budget for the year, the whole size-to-cost ratio is killing it for me. If these we're 40 dollars and not 50, it would be a much easier decision.

I'd also like to see what the reviews are on Megatron before committing to this line-and see the Super Black Convoy too.

If the Super Black were available now, I'd probably cave.

Thanks for the review and pics. I'm glad I pre-ordered this figure as well (in Super Black) but now I would like the have the red version to contrast more with Megs.

Question: Are all the outer, car panels plastic?
Could you post a pic that shows this figure side-by-side a deluxe class car?
