Have you handled any of the ones in between, like Soundwave, Sideswipe and Wheeljack? Most are quite deserving of the title.

I think you have the cause and effect reversed. Once third-parties got word an MP Megatron 2.0 was in the works, they cranked out their own as quickly as possible.
