Mate, while I don't agree with what they're saying, you really need to calm down a little. You won't be convincing anyone if you keep going with that sort of attitude; especially when it's over something as little as opinions on cartoons that are both meant to sell toys to children.

One of the big problems for me is the great looking character models paired with bad animation. Particularly the fight scenes. The duel was pretty lame, Windblade bouncing around erratically and Optimus backing away by a millimeter at each strike? Really? It's so lazy.

They should take care to do better with such incredible looking assets.


I don't think the voices are so bad anymore, and I'm glad Menasor is out of the picture in that regard. Dialogue is pretty clunky though. The overall story is interesting enough if a tad bland. But since I read IDW, that may be an unfair comparison. Might not be as bad for someone without that particular knowledge.

But my the animation is just not good. When Windblade is forcing Optimus back with her sword slashing it looks less like he's being backed into a corner and more like he's pulling off some funky dance moves. Where's Jazz and Blaster when you need a posse?

Yeah. I didn't mind Optimus' voice in this. It was better than I imagined it was going to be. The animation has and did feel a bit choppy, but I'm wondering if that is a stylistic choice rather than budget maybe?

It feels a bit more like they were going with a new and unique style, but it didn't really agree with the budget. I can see potential, but it's just not quite there. If the animation was smoother and faster I'd be inclined to say it's pretty good, but as is you can practically see every frame.

I agree here, very much so. Just not as smooth as I'd like sadly unfortunately.

I think its a stylistic choice brought about my budget. Like they are making the most of it.

I agree with Kurona that it felt like Optimus was dancing. I really didnt like the use of repeat animation though fo that scene. And I didnt get the end. It looks like she misses him by an inch but the end up being several feet apart.

Optimus' voice was perfectly fine. Very happy with it. It sounds like an Optimus voice while not aping Cullen at the same time. I could have done without the voice modulation used though. Windblade's voice is clear but Optimus' is put through this mechanical modulator. Doesnt stop the voice from sounding fine though. Good job Jon

Again, "for non-US fans" is NOT correct. This is the third time I have told you; The Youtube Combiner Wars videos are NOT "international". I am in Japan and the video is Geo-Blocked. As I have stated before, in order to view these videos outside the USA/in geo-blocked countries, you need to copy and paste the url of the geolocked youtube video into the text entry box of any good "online youtube download" site (Google is your friend), and then download the video.

PLEASE check your facts, Seibertron.

The facts are, in fact, correct. The YouTube clip works for 'non-US viewers'. Not ALL non-US viewers, but for non-US viewers nonetheless. I'm not sure why nerves are so on edge today in this thread but here, a couple of points:

- As News Admin, I cannot spend all the time looking at all the comments to all news stories to ensure that all comments are taken on for all the posts that we all have to post in a number of geo/time zones. Windblade is just wrong, she's Spotlight Arcee psycho who then tries to claim she wasn't trying to kill Starscream despite using a sniper rifle and aiming for his head. What's more she then mentions that the council have the Engima and all of a sudden she's apparently forgiven for murdering 10/11 transformers.

That's another thing, the series seems to treat the Combiners as just one robot now a combined unit made up of many TFs

This series is terrible. The animation, the voice actors, the story. It's no wonder, Hasbro put this on some unknown website. I really couldn't see Peter Cullen wasting his time doing the voice of Optimus for this. This series makes me realize how much I can't stand Windblade. For being a 'fan-made' character, Hasbro sure is doing its best to make the fans hate her. Even her appearance in the IDW series is annoying. In episode 3, it sure wasn't much of a duel. Optimus just stood there and Windblade couldn't even hit him with her sword. She sucks, just a whinny little brat. She wants to justify killing by killing more...oh brother. I'd rather watch Energon or Cybertron than this....

sorry, i just hate what they did to windblade here, turned her into mary sue level of terrible, she reached that line, and pole vaulted more into that territory, and must be erradicated, terminated, exterminated, Wiped COMPLETELY FROM CYBERTRON. though i do like her characterization in RID,
But i will settle for her being knocked upside the head by Ragnarok,

I dont think there is something wrong with a Mary Sue character per se, if its done well. For exmample Rey from The Force Awakens is a Mary Sue and there is nothing wrong wtih that. She's a strong female who can handle her own. Windblade is on another level though, filled with angst, just a ball of anger.

I have to say, this story is like something I would come up with when I was 9 playing with my figures. It even has the hesitating speech, like when I would try to come up with dialogue on the fly. Which is great for nostalgic purposes...but it does not strike me as the "adult" aimed storyline they hyped up. In fact, every transformers I've watched since g1 has had at least an episode or two that were on part with Combiner Wars in terms of adult or dark themes. Prime in particular felt way edgier on many occasions, and g1 had an entire movie dedicated to traumatizing children (or at least me)
The animation in Combiner Wars IMO is looking worse each episode, which is a shame because the models and environments are amazing! I'm going to screen shot the hell out of this series for backgrounds, it's just so beautiful when not in motion.
All in all...this feels like a fan production, at the fan level (without crowd funding), almost as if they were producing it secretly to avoid scrutiny from Hasbro. The pieces are there, and I can tell they wanted to make something good.... but it's just not coming together for me.
