hopefully the TRU booth has cool swag when i get this guy. Dunno how long TRU's been around but it took 40 yrs. of SDComic-con for them to decide to get a booth finally?? Geoffrey must hate traveling. Not even to see his family at the San Diego Zoo. :roll:

Curious to know if the sword is orange like the Takara/Tomy special edition. I need another reason, other than the crown, to buy a second MP Grimlock.

It was a Christmas gift. We also can't return an opened toy, and I'm sure the hobby store we got it from doesn't do returns anyway. We usually spend quite a bit of money on each other at Christmas time, she'd probably just be annoyed to find out that it got released for much cheaper later on. She was going to buy me a PS3 if she couldn't get Grimlock, so she would've spent the same amount either way.

Best packaging ever. I'd be tempted to get it just for the inbox display value, but one MP is enough for me. Still, best packaging decision ever.

WOW! I have MP-08 (not MP-08X) and have never bought two of the same mold to display in each mode, but this mold is just too cool I might have to get it. I think I will display this in robot mode and MP-08 in Dinosaur mode (because the teeth are sharper).

I have the takara version (like it). Is this worth purchasing as well? Does an American release justify a purchase of a figure you already own (in general)?

Not for me. I generally don't buy duplicates of figures unless there's a significant enough difference to warrant a second purchase. For example, Henkei Megatron was definitely worth it, even though I already had the Classics one. But MP Grimlock, no, because the only big difference is the inclusion of the crown instead of the Takara version's accessories.

So glad I waited instead of getting the Takomy version. That other 60 bucks is going towards other awesome TF's!
