That is the dumbest poll since the Kirk/Picard poll!
Spectacular Spider-man is a better written, better animated show and has a better theme song... Hands down!

Isn´t necessary read all comments to know that greater part of the votes are for the g1 optimus prime. The movie Optimus Prime is most realist, but I prefer the g1 prime.

G1 Prime, and I'll tell you why: Optimus insisting over and over that they should just shove the allspark into his chest if things go badly was just stupid. The real Optimus wouldn't had to resort to being saved by a human in a one-on-one fight with Megatron.

Probably gonna hate me but I actually like the new Prime better. Sure G1 Prime was a much more legendary hero. But the poll was which would be better for the sequel. And personally I like a Heroic Optimus Prime rather than Legendary. I think he just fit the bill for the movie a little bit better. And honestly I see it this way. G1 is G1. You can't compare the two, the movie will never be G1 and G1 will never be the movie, you have to respect both Optimus Primes. I don't think the new Optimus Prime would ever fit into G1 and I don't think G1 prime could ever fit into the movie. Okay, I'm done. ^_^

He didn't as Sam to Save him, he asked Sam to throw the Allspark into his chest and KILL him so Megatron wouldn't get it.

He's not a sissy, he's a Prime. Willing to sacrifice himself for the good of all.

That said I have to vote neither. Both are the same character, Optimus Prime, the leader who inspires the troops and would throw himself in front of a cannon if it meant defeating the Decepticons and saving innocents.

G1 prime would have never let Bumblebee be dragged off by a bunch of Goverment covert ops. That is really the one point in the movie where I wished Bay had actually watched the first G1 season.

Even though is doing so he would risk Sector Seven capturing him and his soldiers allowing the Decepticons to get the Allspark? I think he made the right choice. Secure the Allspark first and the fight the Decepticons since the Autobots would have the advantage by having it.

People also have to keep in mind that this is a PG-13 movie compared to a Saturday morning cartoon. There's a lot that they could get away with in the movie, in terms of violence, that they could not get away with in the cartoon. I don't think Prime wouldn't take out a Decepticon in either version. They just couldn't get away with killing in the cartoons. War is hell, Prime is a soldier.

Also, to the people who say that Prime would never say "My bad." The phrase didn't exist back then, but if it did, he would say it. He did say "Lay it on me, my man." and "Fat chance, Fathead." I wouldn't put "My bad." past him.

Umm, same actor, same principles. 80's to 2007. To compare the two is not fair, two different era's, two different genres. G1 Prime will always be leader of the Autobots to me, but really, isn't that who movie Prime is?

Movie Prime is just G1 Prime of 2007.

And how could you ask for a better toy for Prime, he's Masterpiece calibur and looks great. Some people are just never happy.

movie or G1 Prime

Postby noctorro » Wed Oct 17, 2007 9:20 am

Though movie prime is better for like live action.
I still say G1 prime, he's almost iconic. I don't say I dislike the lets say high-end transformers. Jazz was awesome (apart from being torn in half).

G1 prime, yet to be beat. (if they make a modern day star convoy that would change :p)

Everything in the Bayformer scat-o-rama was so dismal (except for Prime's sword) that it's hard to separate the good (Prime's sword) from the bad (everything else including the hideous toys).

I'll have to go with 80's Prime, since he never had to make a joke about pee, or reprimand another robot for peeing.

Oh, and they used that terrible pic for Bayformer Robot, the one where his arm is his leg, and he's sorta break-dancing, sorta constipated. Terrible design... so bad.

I have to call shenanigans on that one my friend. Sacrifice himself for what...

so Megs can't have a magic cube that makes Pop machines run...

So then Megs has no real opponent and can run rampart on Earth and throughout the galaxy destroying stuff? That isn't a sacrifice, thats abandonment!

So Yeah G1 FTMFW!!!

There are a thousand reasons why G1 Prime is superior. For me, it was solidified when '07 Prime left Bumblebee behind and HID while Sam and Mikaela were arrested. I'm sorry...but G1 Prime wouldn't have stood for that. He CERTAINLY wouldn't have HID while it happened. Let's not forget that movie Prime got beat around like a red-headed stepchild by Megatron, too. G1 Prime held his own against the Decepticon leader and would have walked away from that battle if HotRod hadn't pulled some lame Romeo and Juliet move.

Plus, 20 years later, the "Megatron must be stopped...no matter the cost" scene STILL gives me goosebumps. '07 Prime had no such effect on me.

I can see why some of you like '07 better, i suppose...but for me, it's G1 all the way.

Both have had their kick butt moments but overall I would have to lean towards G1 Prime. At least he could hold his own against Megs more so than the movie version. Hopefully this will be rectified in the next TF movie.

i like g1 better because it is more easy to see how the g1 transforms than the movie, cause the movie you can just see black and silver wires moving. not really showing u how to transform it . thats why the movie toys arent very accurate to the movie designs like ratchet having the wrong way round hood, barricade having backward arms and voyager megatron having 2 plate chests and others
