Ah ok that explains that then...I'm still curious about those head plates though. Maybe they're a way to collect energy or maybe for heat dissipation? Like heat sinks for processors and such.

Common thinking at the moment seems to be that it's his afro.

But wait if its his 'fro then where is his little comb

So you're telling me that whole sequence was drawn "just 'cause" Well I guess that makes sense...sorta...

Timelines is completely unconnected to the IDW material (unless you want to make the rather useless argument that anything spinning out of Universe has to be connected to everything by default). The Galvatron in the Spotlight is IDW's take on the character, not a future version of Megatron as has been seen in other continuities but a Golden Age Transformer from the crew of the Ark 1 wno predates the war and the modern factions.

I have been saying for a while though that the design of Nova Prime's head bears a striking similarity to Big Convoy/Universe Nemesis Prime. If you check out the designs page in the back of the Prime Spotlight you will see that the original, and sadly unused, toy design that Don came up with has a different head to the one that ended up being used. Personally I think that Furman put this into the scripts that he's handed off to Su and Fig deliberately just to mess with our heads.

Furman wouldn't do something like that now would he?

Ok now here's somethin I'm lost on, what exactly is this 'dead universe' I keep hearing about?

I've got a little theory brewing about how the gestalt tech becomes more mainstream I.E. Devastator, Defensor etc...

Basically one of the combining teams, most likely the Constructicons, will get wind of the tech and want to use if themselves to make them all the more deadly BUT they also know that doing so might cause them to go crazy like the Monster Pretenders did with the whole Monstructor thing.

So they figure "What if we shut down our higher brain functions for the combination process, that way we don't risk our sanity." Seems like a good idea but then when they do it, instead of being insane they're just dumb and can only do the simplest most basic things...or not I dunno but it makes sense in my head lol.

Just hints so far, mainly from the Spotlights for Nightbeat and Galvatron, but also with Nova Prime's appearance to Optimus towards the end of Escalation. We may get some more info in next year's Revelation but given the title this side of the story arc should really come to the fore in 2009's Expansion.

What we know is that the Ark 1 disappeared into the Dead Universe prior to the Autobot/Decpticon war during Cybertron's Golden Age, taking Nova Prime (and so presumably the Matrix), Galvatron and an unknown number of other crew members with it. Just how alive or dead these TFs actually are is currently a point of conjecture, as is whether they've always had the capacity to return and have been biding their time, or whether the capacity to get back is recently acquired. From the Nightbeat book we also know that IDW's take on Micromasters ties in to the Dead Universe, although whether they originate their or are the reformatted citizens of Gorlam Prime (my pet theory) is so far unknown.

Don't forget another named tf that dissapeared on the Ark 1: Jihaxus. And if he wasn't on that ship, he vanished at the same time.

We also know there is some dark master there, whether it's Nova Prime or something else, we'll just have to wait and see

I'm gonna stick with my theory that the master is Jihaxus and Nova Prime realised the errors of his ways and is floating around the Dead Universe trying to get back. Eventually, he will fight back against Jihaxus/Galvatron and restore Optimus's faith in the Prime Lineage. That will also explain how the matrix can get back into this universe and with Optimus, if it is indeed in the Dead Universe.

Ok fact - Galvatron existed before Megatron.
If Megatron hasn't gotten his arm cannon yet in his origin - then I will speculate that Megatron's BFG arm cannon may be a bastardised version of the one the original Galvatron (who left with Nova Prime aboard the first ARK) has.
Megatron's desire for conquest may be influenced by Nova Prime's supremacists views.
Nova Prime (whom I feel will no doubt be a major threat somewhere down the line) and Galvatron will wreck havoc on all TFs and we'll get to see - the tag-team match from hell - Optimus Prime and Megatron team up vs. Nova Prime and Galvatron...

admit it - you know you'd love to see that!

Sure I'd like to see it, then in a twist, the two Prime's join forces and combine to form Omega Nova Prime and whack the crap out of Megs and Galvatron.

Counterpunch?



It could be that Counterpunch is a seperate personality to Punch that can take over the body at will, commit the dirty deed, then transform back into Punch with Punch being none the wiser of what happened. He suffers memory blackouts, but is too scared of what he's doing to tell anyone, while Counterpunch is aware of everything that Punch is doing.

Blaster witnessed Counterpunch doing something and transforming into Punch, which is when he gets blasted and thrown out into space.

Because of his near death experience, and no longer knowing who he can trust incase they also transform into Decepticons, he becomes that withdrawn persona Furman is talking about in his blog. Suspicious of everyone but himself and his tapes.

Not much in the way of revelations in Devastation #1.

Except that IDW apparently thinks Ravage should be a dog instead of a cat.

Oh, and of course, Ratbat is still functioning, and is independent of Soundwave.

Still waiting to see how/if Hardhead and Nightbeat become Headmasters, and if Sunstreaker will remain one.

Nightbeat will probably become a Headmaster to rid him of that implant Galvatron put in his skull - would like to see Hunter be his partner somehow, as they seem like they'd make a good fit (a detective and a conspiracy theorist), but since Hunter is apparently bonded to Sunstreaker...

I guess Sixshot is pretty bad ass isn't he? Glad to hear that Sideswipe and the boys are coming to Earth to give them more support. Leave Jetfire to clean up the scientific mess.

I loved the preview of #2...Hot Rod and Wheeljack going really fast than get passed and surrounded by...Sunstreakers!!! That looked sweet!

I kind of thought the same thing, but they didn't have many options. They could have used his Alternator form, which looks goofy, or could have added a third Lambourghini to the group.

I guess a Ferrarri would be a plausible choice, but Hot Rod's deco on a Ferrarri?

I had suggested to use 2007/08 Mustang GT as Hotrod's alternate mode, but the decision wasn't mine to make.
