if you played the movie game or have seen the recent welker/megatron cameo on family guy you can hear that his voice sounds a little different maybe a little more worn out and a little too gravelly. It honestly wouldn't have felt right for the more "realistic" movie. peter cullen still sounds right for prime, yes his voice changed too, but i actually think it sounds better.
please don't take this as a knock on mr. welker. the guy is one of the best voice actors ever... i'd love for him to return to transformers in some capacity but it has to be right. maybe soundwave/ravage is that part.

Sure he deserves it. It's just that Weaving was good as Megatron in the first movie, and as I've said earlier, they should keep the VA talent they had in the first movie. I mean, you don't see them changing actors for characters like Sam and Lennox, right?
