Want some G1 reissue dinobots? You guys should settle with the KOs because I doubt real ones will ever happen.

I also would never buy this set because I have all my fruity dinos and they are enough.

The G1 toys were kinda brickish anyways.

I don't see why anyone would want reissues of G1 toys outside of the nostalgia factor or reowning a new version of what they had as a kid.

Not like kids today are going to buy it compared to newer more articulated figures.

Yep, those head sculpts have sold me. I'm going to invest in this set. I hope it will come in at under $100 USD. The G1 decoed FoC Grimlock from that AoE two-pack with deluxe Silver Knight Optimus Prime will remain my classics, Grimlock. That's a perfect G1 update as far as I'm concerned, fat tail and all. I still might consider Energon Swoop, though, for his one-headed beast mode and blue torso.

Having never owned any of the re-issues, I kinda want some of them from a history of the franchise I love perspective, but they certainly aren't 'good toys' by my standards.

But looking back on them, the only ones I want are they ones that don't look overly derpy. Really wanted that blaster/perceptor 2 pack, would've liked chop shop and his crew, trypticon, fort max (obviously :roll: ), pirhanacons, and liokaiser (isn't necessarily g1); and that's it, off the top of my head, I honestly don't regret not owning most of them >:oP

These would be great fillers for the Dinobots in a Generations display, even if they are on the small side.

This is what has been one of the biggest problem with bayformers for me. The heads this change makes the figures look so much better.

I really like this set. I already have some of the AOE dinobots but with those new heads, I would gladly put them on my generation shelves. Any idea when this set will be released and where it will be available? I'm curious to see how expensive this set will be.

...Certainly tempting as a Classics-style team of the OG Dinobots... the only ones I have problems with are Grimlock and Swoop/Strafe. I just do not like Grimlock, and only got him because he was on sale. Besides, I've already got the chromed-out G1-inspired Fall of Cybertron Grimlock that came with an equally-blinged Dark of the Moon Deluxe Optimus Prime as my Classics Grimlock, so if I were to get this set, the set's Grimlock is not staying in my home. One version of the mold is enough for me, lol. Still can't get over Swoop/Strafe's two-headed self, but I'd be interested in seeing an upgrade kit that somehow kills the two heads and manages to make a single head that's not off.

As long as the price point is fair, I'm in. I have an aborted attempt to repaint Slug sitting on my workbench, and nearly picked up a Snarl on sale today. Sludge I had been eying on Amazon. Though Grimlock will be tossed in the closet, I will pair them with Generations FoC Grimlock even if the shinyness doesn't match.

But isnt what makes Swoop who he is the fact that his dino head is made up of his robot head? Even the small minicon had that aspect. A single head still wouldnt make him classics enough for me. And anyways, those heads are mistransformed on the pic making it look really silly.

mirageandjazz1197 wrote:Would the normal deluxe Scorn go with these guys or is he too red to go with this set?

He would be fine with them. The red might be different but it's a different mold from a different era so making him a little different works well.

Agamemnon wrote:Because the G1 toys are awesome? :-s

While they are brickish, I find that the deco on them is amazing! They look so good as simply toys. And Snarl most of all, I just love the way his dino legs fold away, it's a smart transformation and a really good looking toy. His tail flaring in the back adds some cool bling, making him look like a King.

Good call on energon Swoop! And that 2 pck Grimlock is a great Classics Dinobot, dont know who I would place these guys with. And lastly, this set will be at least 120$ US. The other platinum dinobot set with the same amount of voyagers and deluxes was that cost and I dont know if Hasbro/TRU wil charge an extra premium for the fact that its a retool.

Well for another point in the Generations Dinobot option, here is the box. It is under the Generations monicker titled Dinobots. So it<s actual title is Platinum Edition Generations Dinobots

People please, please don't buy this ****. Stop telling Hasbro that this is okay. Either do G1 Dinobots correctly, or don't **** do them at all.

Yes, I knew from the get go that this set was 98% likely to be dumbass AOE repaints, and yes, I'm still super pissed off about it. Thank god for the 3rd party market, at least they get things right.

Seriously, stop handing Hasbro money for things simply because it says transformers on it.

Of all the heads, I like Strafe's the best.

These are definitely Generations Dinobots to me; as such, I could have done without all that chrome (I'm a much bigger fan of metallics), but I think these will do quite nicely, monkey arms or no.

My sentiments exactly. If all it takes are endless repaints and mold regurgitation to placate consumer interest I can easily see product quality to continue to decline. If I want repaints I can go to Wal Mart, load up on spray paint and have a field day.

Woah woah wait, calm down guys. Why dont we just see this as an improved rerelease of the SDCC dinos instead? Its not like we were gonna get the dinobots next year with the teased toyline anyway. And plus, every year is one year further away from FOC grimlock so I didnt think they would go back to that aeshetic. They should, but I dont know if that makes any sense from their standpoint.

WHAT? I CAN'T HAVE MY OWN DISTINCTIVE SET OF AESTHETICS? HUH? WHO THE F&$K DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? PRIMUS, GOD, YOU'RE SOME BE ALL, END ALL FIGURE ON WHAT SHOULD AND SHOULD NOT BE RELEASED?

MAYBE I LIKE THE PSEUDO-GYNOID STYLE OF ROTF, MAYBE I LIKED THE VEHICONS' DESIGNS IN BEAST MACHINES;

MAYBE I LIKED THE AOE DINOBOT DESIGNS, AND MAYBE I WAS BUMMED BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET THE SDCC SET;

I NEVER SAID I WAS GOING TO BUY THEM, I SAID SOME PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT STYLES THEY LIKE, IF THIS WASN'T RELEASED THOSE PEOPLE WOULD NEVER GET SOMETHING THAT THEY WANTED OUT OF THE FRANCHISE; OH, BUT I GUESS THOSE PEOPLE DON'T MATTER TO YOU BECAUSE THEY DON'T LIKE ALL THINGS G1, OR, THEY LIKE INVENTIVE REPAINTS - IT'S BETTER THAN THE F&%KING SEEKERS - GOD KNOWS THOSE WEREN'T INVENTIVE AT ALL :roll: , YET I BET YOU'RE CLAMORING TO FINISH A SET OF THEM FROM SOME LINE, OR SOME OTHER G1 NON-INVENTIVE SET OF CLONES.

I admit I was one of the ones foolish enough to believe that even though the rumored Dinobot set was 99.999999% going to be yet another AoE set...I did have my hopes. The fact that it's not the popular G1 set that we(some of us at least,)hoped for is not my main gripe. I think deep down, we all knew that was pretty much impossible, and that's cool.

I look at this set and yes, the colors kick like Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon and damn if those headsculpts don't make me wanna swoon. I just can't believe that after the nigh endless barrage of repaints we've been promised for Transformers we have to put up with this. It's gotten to the point of ludicrous speed.

Alas, we must always find the silver lining within any predicament. At least now I can put money away for the upcoming Thundercats figures and all the awesome output coming from NECA and Sideshow.
