Do you think it's the case? I mean, with the combiners out of the way, you would think the Dinobots are a pretty big priority for generations figures to be released. Maybe this is what they were waiting for.

Just like Platinum Omega Supreme is the defacto Gen Omega Supreme, is this Hasbro telling us (especially due to the remolded heads) that this is what we are getting in terms of gen dinobots? Thus, leaving FOC Grimlock (and Classics Grimlock) as an odd man out, and also meaning that we wont be getting Gen Dinobots down the road? If this is the case, what do you guys feel about this?
Patience Will, patience. I don't think Hasbro has plans anytime soon to stop making Transformers. Gen Dinobots will one day be the entire focus of an entire years line. Mark my words. ;)

I am bummed. I remember your news post, WJ88, and then I remember a reputable rumor provider sparking some of our interest (definitely mine!!) that these would be re-issue G1 Dinobots. Then I saw this in the morning and did feel crushed. I was really hoping for G1 re-issues (and I know I'm not the only one. Too bad fandom wishful thinking doesn't always turn into reality, eh Sabrblade? Though, sometimes... #StillWillingWishfulThinking)

And I'm with you, WJ88. I think you may be spot on that Hasbro may consider these our Classics Dinobots, as unfortunate as that is... :-( The molds are not completely horrible, but have too much of the Movieverse aesthetic for my tastes to fit into my Classics collection, despite several Movie molds being firmly entrenched there...

And there are also these guys.

I've been watching them on HTS for sometime, waiting on a price drop. I like the deco of those even with the clear bits. I've just never liked the retail colors much, but I dig the knights in armor made of knives looks the AoE dinobots are sporting.

Plus, the Dinobots Unleashed set (somewhat similar in nature) has all 4 including Slog as well. The bad thing is that Grimlock is the Voyager, not the Leader: that's a separate Platinum Edition.

But that Platinum leader is weird. It was always considered to be more movie accurate, but I dont see it.

That one is is like if you took the regular Hasbro retail version (sans the silver chrome) and covered it in the patina that covered Grimlock in the movie.

The Takara Black Knight Grimlock is the more movie-accurate version, being like if the Grimlock in the movie had taken a bath and gotten all cleaned up and shiny.

See, owning only one of the original versions of those molds, I am very interested in this set. I liked the knight helmet-styled headsculpts of the originals, but these just seem to work for me. That Grimlock, especially. His weapon still sucks, but damned if I don't like that head on that body.

Some of the AOE knight's helmet head sculpts were their most redeeming feature. These heads look super cool. But for me it's just lipstick on a pig. That Strafe does look cool though.

Hey, if Rosie O'Donnel wants to wear lipstick, she can.

My favorite here are strafe and Snarl, even if I wish Strafe had a blue chest. I do not think that head on Slog is that much of an upgrade.

The real question for me is whether or not these are supposed to be our Generations Dinobots or Age of Extinction Dinobots. I think we all just want reissues of the originals and new updates to the classic 5 Dinobots in the main Generations line. Not sure what I think of these.

So many monkey arms, so few eyes to roll. The stegosaurus-guys arms are attrocious, and I like my strafe. Grimlock and the triceratops-guy are really solid, but I wonder how the brachiosaurus-guy's soft rubber will fare.
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

I personality would like to see the rest of the dinobots done up FoC style. And while they are at it, finish up the damn Insecticons.

But these guys with the new head sculpts work very well for me. And its a double win because I don't own these molds.

You know, if they had gone the extra mile, these could have passed pretty well for modern G1 Dinbots. Just retool each of the Dino modes.

Give Strafe/Swoop one Dino head that can split in half for robot mode, change Slug's Styracosaurus-ish head to a Triceratops, get rid of Slog's spikiness, give Grimlock a new upper half of his Dino head (so he looks like a T-Rex and not a Carnotaurus that dove headfirst into a blender) and Snarl doesn't actually really need any retooling.

And for the extra, extra mile, they could have retooled the weapons into swords and/or guns (or guns and swords that combine to store)

The SDCC Dinobots are "G1" as well, technically speaking, as the packaging doesn't have the AoE logo anywhere, defaulting them to the nameless 2014 line. G1 deco Slog is still his AoE self though, as are all the Takara ones.

Scorn is going to look so good with theses guys.

Scorn is the only Dinobot I was able to buy at the time so I missed the rest so I would love to get this set.

Would the normal deluxe Scorn go with these guys or is he too red to go with this set?

Since the news of that Dinobots set, I skipped over the 2 pages of comments that instantly appeared.

Want some G1 reissue dinobots? You guys should settle with the KOs because I doubt real ones will ever happen.

I also would never buy this set because I have all my fruity dinos and they are enough.
