Bring on Thundercracker!

I'm really hoping this isn't what Hasbro meant when they said they'd be returning to the Classics line in 2010. Dirge, Thrust and Red Alert; three remolds of the most used figures in the series. And Darkmount/Straxus and Drift; characters who have never before had a figure, so can they claim to be recapturing the magic of the 80s which was why the Classics line was spawned. Don't get me wrong, they're all great figures (I've got Darkmount and Drift on pre-order), I just hope these five are not IT for 2010.

Easy fix to make the resulting figure notably different from the BotCon version, while having a major character available to the masses.

At least we are getting new molds, not like the original Universe line which was strictly repaints.

Bring on all these awesome toys! I miss being excited about heading back to the toy department at Wal-Mart. I can' tell you how long its been that I've gloomly walked back with no hopes at all only to find 35 Tuner Mudflaps (seriously they have NOTHING else), some Bumblebee helmets and a bunch of Fast Action Battlers. It has been MONTHS. So let's get these toys out on shelves so they can be on mine!

Based on the pictures (I spend a lot on Transformers, but have not purchased the Botcon set so I cannot say for sure) it looks like the Botcon set is more of a powder blue. It's why I suggested going darker blue to match closer to the G1 toy.--B-- wrote:Well, they said that Generations is going to be an ongoing line, so hopefully the profits from these 6) new molds (counting WFC Prime, BB, Megs, and Soundwave) and the cheaper to make repaints, will give us some other new molds in the future. With TF3 and the new Cartoon, Prime I'm pretty sure the Generations line is just a placeholder. Something to get us to Christmas. I'm not expecting much except, perhaps, some more toys from the War for Cybertron game.
Which makes me wonder. Any possibility that Dirge is actually a WfC mold and not Classics? We should see a Starscream first, correct?

That is four years I've got to look at pictures of him and follow 80-100 dollar henkei Dirges on eBay. This shouldn't dampen the value at all. Now the general community can pick up a classics style Dirge, but it is still only a Generations toy, not a Botcon exclusive.

Thundercracker, I think not. We're getting Generations Thrust. Dirge and Red Alert, but those are Henkei molds that Hasbro is trying to cash in on. I'd actually be surprised if Hasbro pulls out the Cracker.

Hasbro said Generations would be on-going and NOT a placeholder/filler line.

I agree with this. I purchased the Botcon set, and while I will admit I was initially upset by the Takara releases I do acknowledge that I got to enjoy these figures for years before others which still makes them worth the the $279.00 I paid for the Iacon set. It will however reduce to value of the Botcon figures and the Henkei figures for that matter. They didn't skyrocket in price because they were Botcon exclusives, they skyrocketed because they were Classics representations of characters fans wanted. Anytime a new cheaper alternative comes along it can't help but reduce the demand and thus the value of those who came before them. If I didn't already have these figures and I was in the market for them I wouldn't pay a higher price just to get the Botcon version, in fact I wouldn't give two sh*ts about the Botcon versions at this point. I do plan on getting Generations Dirge for the remolded wings even though I already have Botcon Dirge. Actually Botcon Dirge will probably go into storage now.
