It just sad that when this turn to the Transformers live film, there is something lose. There was a huge of confusion about the VA's list in this film.

I disagree with Bay said Frank's sound too cartoony for this film. Consider to the game and game cover with the picture of Prime and Megs, given thinking that Peter was Prime but Megs was Frank or Weaving. :-?

I have no problem with Hugo Weaving, I admire his works and he is great for me not because just he is the star or big name actor since hugo is not a big name actor.
If they give Frank voice the game with that new design of Megs, then Frank should be able to handle the role of Megs in film.

I didn't like that the filmmakers even said it too cartoon ,this film is not cartoon so they have to change it. but see their linking is also for the movie adaption in catoonish style issue 1,2,3,4..(more)with 5 pages

Isn't the story that they taken to re-made was from the
class robots cartoon?

The filmmakers have the good elements in their hand (the characters+voice actors, original story) but they just get overlook in some part especially the heart of cybertron charactize, background relation and voice collaborations
which it could provide the feel of "Autobots" (VA:Peter,Mark,..)team up , "Decepticon"(Frank,David,or Hugo or the other VA) team up.

I understand the filmmakers could not fill of all the fans demand but at least they should given the good feel to their film remaining Peter,Frank, David or add Hugo or the other voice actors)to do this film and given more weight and screen time with more dialogue to fill the bots characterize.

They should made the film worth and class and given the robots character worthy as it should be.

This was probably the main, if not only reason Welker got axed: Name recognition.

I dont know how but i missed this. But after seeing that youtube clip im even more pissed that Welker was passed over. The voice fits. I agree that there should be 2 audio track for megs on the DVD. One with Frank and one with Hugo. I think that if Galvatron is in the 2nd movie (we all know he will be) Welker should voice him. Make the 2nd movie for the fans. Add Dinobots, Add the constructicons, and give us Welker. And bring in Mike Bell. Well you have to bring in Bell if the D-bots and C-Cons are in the next movie. He does Swoop and Scrapper. And didnt they say that Welker was going to do a voice in the movie? What happend to that?

I know this has already been said, but it's always good to point out stuff that might have been overlooked earlier in a thread that gets this long.....the problem with the name recognition theory is that if that were the case, why haven't they advertised that Weaving was doing Megatron? I mean, why go so far out of your way to cast a name actor over one of the best VA's in the business if you're not going to parade him around & make use of such a name to prove that he was the better way to go....because the way things are with the lack of media exposure Weaving has gotten over this, him being Megs will not get any more people's arses in seats that what the movie is already going to pull in. The only thing it will acomplish is that if people stay long enough to see the credits, which is rarely the case that I've seen in a long time, they will see the name next to Megs & say, "Hey, I didn't know Agent Smith was Megatron. Yeah, he did sort of sound like him." instead of, "Who the hell is Frank Welker?" "I dunno, but it was neat how he sounded just like the guy from the original cartoon."

That is what grills my cheese the most right there.

He was not even given ONE role in the whole film. Hell, in the first series, he did like, what half the voices or more?

That's what I've been saying for a while now too. I still think Bay and Weaving may be friends or something. I mean, at least you had someone looking forward to Megs' voice with Welker, because at least the fans would have known about him. Only the "other" moviegoers who research the film before seeing it will know it's Weaving, providing absolutely no publicity for the film what so ever with any crowd or fanbase.

They could at the very least have given him the voice of one of the other decepticons.

That said,, i could totally see (hear) welker as megatron with a deeper and more metallic voice...

Heck, I liked all the voices Frank did to Transformers! More than any other man Frank is responsible for the success in the characters of the original show!

With his Megatron voice, Frank is right... There IS so much range to what Megatron sounds like depending on his mood. Most of the time he is caniving and you can especially hear that when you see that smirk on his face (They animated to Franks Voice) and even MORE SO in his evil laugh. That evil laugh is the trademark of Megatron! I loved it! You can also hear the evilness in the bass portion of the sound structure in the voice. Like Frank said, there is alot of range compiled together in the voice so there is alot to listen for and hear.

I truely admire Frank Welker and all he's done. I'm glad he felt pationate enough to explain his work. He would know better than some chump off the street.

Well said. I just watched a clip of Welker doing the voice of Megatron for the new game. It hit me then, as it probably hit me many times during my childhood, how rich Megatron's voice is. It's unique. And it's so good that when I finally got around to watching Beast Wars, I couldn't take that Megatron's voice; I just stopped watching after ten minutes.

Welker's a legend.
Wow, I hadn't even known he had voiced Skywarp  I thought it was mainly Megs..
