Really excited about Convoy bat but think it's really odd that they didn't take opportunity to do megatron crocodile in a 2 pack. Seems like easy money to do that.

I suspect they felt redecoing the green alligator into another green alligator was a bit redundant, and suspect that the included Megalligator head is meant to attach to the Legends Skullcruncher toy to give us a full-bodied Megalligator.

It's neither perfect nor ideal, but it's what I'm guessing.

Properly translated bio:

In a sense, Convobat is "Convoy changed his form in preparation for aerial combat. Unfurling his elastic bat wings, he can fly completely silently, with hovering capabilities. With Convoy's strategic and commanding abilities, he is easily up to the task of scouting without being spotted by enemies." But he is a clone of Convoy; to introduce the traits of organic lifeforms to the next generation of Transformers, Straxus has performed experiments to create the latest hybrid TFs.

With bat-like wings, he can fly and hover in silence, which made him perfect to train as an assassin robot. He rebels from his chosen career and plots to escape. He thinks that Megaligator, from the same stock of experiments and circumstances as him, is his only friend. To compensate for his lack of firepower, his partner drone Ape-X Arms was created.

I don't get why everyone assumes that a properly colored Megaligator would be redundant. Different shades of green, and no pink? Seems different enough to me.

What I do wonder though, is if they'll repurpose him further as Onyx Primal and whatever the red version was called :-?

I'd love this as Onyx Primal, too. AND have to say... they missed a great opportunity making a black Sandstorm with Prime head as Onyx Primal. It has modes for the Tumbler and Bat-copter like in the recent movies.

Would have been.... so.... awesome.

Maybe they just don't have faith in the popularity of Beast Wars toys to sell--especially ones this obscure, and decided to go with one figure instead of a pricier two.

I wouldn't mind a repaint of Skullcruncher as Gatoraider but with a robot head based on Krok.

I think Hasbro Hardhead would be fine for a straight repaint as Tankor. I've already repainted him as Gutcruncher.

Now I think I will repaint Skullcruncher as Gatoraider.

It's Takara/e-HOBBY who might deem a Megalligator Transtector redundant since they seem to have color-matched the Megalligator Headmaster to Legends Skullcruncher's shade of green, if this photoshop is anything to go by:

Hopefully someone does a proper Megalligator at some point. Putting that head on Skullcruncher's body doesn't cut it for me.

Who was Convobat supposed to be anyway? I thought he was nothing more than a version of Optimus Primal, as his original toy was a direct import of the bat figure (both the grey and red version were called Convobat).
