I've got like.... most versions of that mold. Not all of them are floppy, mind you- Jazz is just the worst. But for the life of me, I can't figure out WHY they didn't make a way for his chest to lock into place.

I have the SG Stepper version, I'm also surprised they never had the chest lock in anywhere

Y'know what'd be really cool? If whatever Jazz they end up making in Earthrise or Part 3 ends up having an option to have door wings or not, whether it's removable door wings or if they fold out of sight unobtrusively or something along those lines.

Not for nothing, the Jazz on the box has door wings.

I'm trying to figure it out. Maybe I can take a picture of the magnifying glass over Jazz on the box.

Also, I might be in minority on this but I preffer the vehicle mode on CW Cyclonus. I really love how loooooong that nocescone is. It really reminds me of that perspective shot we get in the 86 film when we first see it transform during the transfiguration scene.

I also enjoy the vehicle mode on CW Cyclonus, and wish the nosecone on the new one was longer, but honestly the idea of a potential upgrade kit for this new one to give it an IDW head and sword is much more interesting to me, as well as up my alley. Plus, even though I liked the purple used for CW, this new one looks much better, even without paint

But based on what they did so far in the current trilogy, I think a ER Jazz would be freaking awesome.
I'm looking forward to it.

How does that even work, if Generations has been the GeeWun lineup? Seems redundant, but oh well. Cyclonus looks AWESOME.
Thrust pretty much sealed me buying Screamer yesterday. I love this mold. No regrets. I love its relative heft compared to the original Classics and its *just* diffetent enough in its tricks. I need some missile pods for it though.
Maverick is probably gonna be a buy on sight. Not enough Jet Autobots. My initial impression though based on the character art and the panel lines on the figure are that this is going to be more in the Studio Series Movie style which is sad but also not an unfitting way to do it.
Can we say "SDCC2020 Orphan?"

Bounti76 wrote:I have no need for a new Jazz. I'm with Will on this one... the POTP Jazz is a nice looking figure, and the combining gimmick isn't obtrusive... frankly, he's better off not being used as a combiner limb, as neither his arm or leg modes are very stable.
Imo, PotP Jazz is nice, but far from perfect. The vehicle is awesome but the transformation is a bit fiddly with lots of panels origami. Plus the hands are completely blocked. If you compare CW Wheelhack with his ER counterpart, they should be able to make a true "Mini Budget Masterpiece" with a ER Jazz. This could give us a preview of what a proper official MP Jazz would look like if Porche would stop sitting on their copyright for one minute.

When I did it, I wasn't expecting any character. Even on the Leader Class box the guy is tiny. The visor was the dead giveaway.

Exactly.
He look good in both modes, but it's a bad limb and he's not fun to handle at all.

Oddly enough his repaint Stepper (or is it Ricochet?) feel slightly better and more stable. However it could just be I got a real stinker of a Jazz that is so floppy and unable to stick together in any mode that his repaint feels good by comparison purely because it isn't as much of a piece of shit.

My thoughts on my recent earthrise lot:
Hoists arms underneath the truck haven't bothered me as much in hand, they kind of look like suspension. If he had his g1 toys fists even more so as they would look like springs of some kind. He feels like he's missing some transformation that would have hidden them. Bonus points to the figure for having some mechanical detail/plastic when ankle tilting. Unlike a lot of other wfc with ankle tilts he doesn't look like a mma fighter whose kick has gone horribly wrong.
Ironworks yellow paint gives it a battle damage effect, but if it wasn't for that aesthetic it would look like an airfix model that's had the wrong finish paint applied to it. I want to like it but none of his modes are convincing.
Cliff jumper obviously didn't follow the none essential travel rules and got covid feet off of other bots like seaspray and mp bee. Other than his boat feet the jagged edge of the windscreen in bot mode is kinda an eyesore. Maybe the other uses for the mold that don't use light blue plastic won't be as noticeable. The legs are done well and he doesn't feel out of place size wise with cw/tr legends.

Mine is floppy when transforming. It's a pain to put him in bot or car mode, but once I'm there, he stay in place. My friend bought Select Stepper because he's such a Combiner nerd. His Stepper feel the exact same way as my Jazz.
Still, the worst Jazz ever is definitely WFC Jazz. PotP is divine compared to it.

Seemed to me it wasn't exactly clear, just a visor, but maybe. I need to get a Sky Lynx to be sure.

Seriously, mini-cons and Micromasters are my big weakness. I can't remember the little guys' names, but I just love how small they are I didn't really get into the Titan Masters, but I rather enjoyed the Prime Masters as a neat little homage to Pretenders. They started doing Micromaster bases in Earthrise, so I'm hoping in the next part they might start doing Micromaster Transports

I'm hoping the transport are Deluxe or bigger and got an added robot mode so we can have the little micromaster lads inside an exo suit.

I could see that being a good way to bring in a Cybertron Menasor update because his original figure had a gimmick like that, though I can't remember how well that worked out

I'm actually the opposite. Granted, Jazz isn't solid and sturdy, but he holds together well in robot and car mode. My Ricochet, however, IS a floppy mess, and feels cheaper than Jazz.

Look like a "head or tail" scenario for that mold.
Having a Jazz with the current WFC trilogy engineering and quality would be really welcome. Seriously, I've yet to hear about a single true stinker in the current lines. There's also rarely any mentions of QC issues. It's pretty damn amazing.

Would he have to be his own new mold, or could he be a retooled Smokescreen, perhaps?-Kanrabat- wrote:Bounti76 wrote:I'm actually the opposite. Jazz should be his own new mold, of course. Smokescreen is a Datsun Bro so his mold will/can be milked enough with Prowl, Streak, and Barricade.
Then they could make a Select Stepper 2.0 who will not be a floppy mess.

Can't tell about Grapple because I don't have him. But Starscream? First time I heard about that. Unless one use Starscream as a ballerina, how can this happen? And maybe your Astrotrain was a dud because mine is solid.
It's not like the Titan Return / TLK times where I had a part missing or misassembled every 3 figures I bought. That was when they moved their production to Vietnam. It took time to iron out the bugs but at least we are there.

You guys are lucky, the first 4 earthrise figures I bought all had defects; o/p had a blown out shoulder, the pegs on grapple, wheeljack had a glued thigh, and ironworks' ramp hinge broke first time I transformed him

The only line I experienced major QC issue was POTP, with a floppy-ass Jazz, missing weapons and/or painting errors I could not see inside the box. TR had a few minor but nearly every POTP figure I had suffered from from one popping or too stiff limb, misapplied paint/sticker or errors in their accessories. Nothing bad enough to warrant returning the figure however.
