Psychological reward of adding more bang for your buck? Hence the collectability.

To bilk me out of money...
Says my accountant, anyway... But, at least the coins (and trading cards for that matter) take up less space than, say, UW Defensor, Bruticus, and Devestator, combined...

To those curious, here is the supposed Hasbro Box Art for their release of Computron.

I'm not saying this post means anything but if they we're doing a ruination repaint why would they do a teaser like we saw before? With the standard silhouettes it's obvious which combiner they're doing but for a straight repaint it would be more vague.

Coming from other forums like Smogon I really miss having a Like button :p
Seriously tho an RiD Ruination would be a nice repaint. It'd surprise me tho since Takara's Unite Warriors line so far has had an impressive streak of having no straight-up redecos - at the very least every figure has a unique head.

That may be the one bummer about this over Hasbro. Individually unite Nosecone is significantly better, but combined he is not as good as Hasbros. But that is pretty much the story across the board, with all of the takara ones looking better individually, but Nosecone is the one case where the combined mode on Hasbro looks better. I think Takara wins this one.

Well, you have to keep the drill attached to the knee, that's just storage, you can attache it to comps' wrist in lieu of a hand - it's what I would do

Hasbro's also comes with better combiner pieces, those couple extra little figures (forgot their names), AND a better color scheme in my opinion. A better use of money in my opinion. Why spend 150 USD on the Takara version, then spend 30 to 50 MORE dollars for an upgrade set, when I can get it all at once for only 100 USD in a box set with better colors AND more figures?

That't totally your opinion, though if your prices are a bit off as you can get him for $130 shipped, which is what I'm going to do. to me, despite Hasbro having those hands and feet and Scrounge, Takara went so much farther making this a true technobots set. Nosecone and Lightspeed are mere repaints without proper heads on Hasbro, and the Computron torso is just a miscolored Superion torso, which to me sticks out. I like that Takara did differentiate the torso, Scattershot in robot mode, and Nosecone and Lightspeed in both modes. To me, they did it better, and I don't pose my combiners doing some weird A-stances, and I like the HFG, so to me it isn't a deal breaker. Plus, Screamer has the right idea about a drill hand!

Whatever man, I've never had an issue with the hfg's
I wouldn't mind grabbing hasbro's comps if I found it at hts for 20% off, but if I were going to get any more combiners, it'd easily be TT's version, they went so far above and beyond on it, and even throw in a ton of additional guns.

Hey man, if you like the hasbro version than thats awesome. A LOT of bang for your buck there. However you do end up with 3 toys that are straight up repeats of toys you already may have (Streetwise, Brawl and Scattershot) with a combiner head you probably also already have. Plus Hasbro's cant do the cool drill hand!

I actually don't have those molds, and I would also much rather have the Dead End mold as Lightspeed than the Breakdown mold. I also am not hugely upset about not being able to do the drill-hand, since I don't ever think of Computron doing something like that. Devastator with drill hands is awesome because he is a crazy brute who is obsessed with destruction. Computron, is a calculative genius who always is very precise with his movements and shots. You can't really calculate your strikes as well with a drill hand as you can with a rifle.

If these are all new molds for you then its a super sweet deal!
And about the drill hand, to be fair I always preffered the computron design over the character himself. Hes a pretty terrible fighter. He can be precise all he wants but since he wont give in to his inner warrior and preffers to calculate odds (out loud to the enemy?!) he ends up being such an easy adversary to beat.
I cant wait to make him moer badass with that drill.
Also, Computron, I know the terrorcons are as dumb as a bag of bricks but I still would not tell them exactly what you were gonna do:

Damn you Grimlock!
If I get this guy, he may be my only full Combiner Wars combiner for a while. I also have Voyager Cyclonus to get along with some other figures (Titans Return/Takara Legends), so I may not be able to afford anymore anytime soon. I do however hope an Abominus comes out eventually though.

It isn't really fair to count Scattershot, as we knew from the mainline Scattershot that this is what the boxset version was going to look like (You're right with the combiner head, though). With Lightspeed, his head already looks close enough to the original Lightspeed:
I do agree with you on Nosecone.

I dont get it, how does him being at retail already mean we know what he would look like in a later release, wouldnt it be the other way around? Because he was already available at retail then a second Hasbro version would hopefully have some change to the sculpt to amplify the distinction between the Scattershot that forms Betatron and the one that forms Computron. Takara's came out later than hasbro's individual computron and it has changes in its sculpt, the least Hasbro could do is give fans somethign they didnt get at retail already. At least thats how I see it.
Also, you tell me which headsculpt you like best, regardless of what is most show accurate (though of course that can be why you like one better):

I don't mean to toot my own horn or get anyone's hopes up too high, but I had a lengthy conversation with Hayato Sakamoto back at BotCon in which he made mention of a Unite Warriors release of Baldigus, but I didn't get to ask if his mentioning it was in regards to something that is coming or something that he's wanting to come.steals_your_goats wrote:william-james88 wrote:StarFireMk4 wrote:According to this post on the news sub-forum on TFW, it looks like Yuki may (or may not) be teasing a Renuation (?) repaint of Bruticus.

The Takara version however, looks just like them. The remoulding in general makes the figure look so bad ass, I love it. And honestly, I think the Takara Nosecone looks better in all modes (the hasbro drill tank just looks a bit puny). I even think it works in leg mode. While I'm not a big fan of the Technobots, the Takara version just looks too magnificent to pass up.

For me there's usually the element of nostalgia.
And of course, there has to be the appeal of aesthetics in some way.
I'm not at all knocking the coins... I just truly don't see how those are very enticing...
I mean, come on-- Transforming figures are one thing, a coin with a transforming character's face on it is something quite a bit different.
I've voiced my opinion of TT Computron enough.
I just cannot wait to have this set... Between him and UW Bruticus...
Just a lot of awesomeness.
I will say this again; I really hope we end up getting Abominus and Piranacon sooner than later.
And I get this isn't going to happen soon in the next year or so.
But sooner meaning not another 8-9 years.

I like the boxart, too bad Srunge won't be included, but I like this combiner feels like something new and unique even if they are retooling the same molds for Breakdown, Groove, Silverbolt, Blast Off and Rook
I only have UW Superion and CW Defensor (can't wait for CW Groove to arrive in a few weeks) and I have no regrets. Sure Hot Spot color in the UW version looks amazing but I prefer the paint apps in the CW version, plus I can paint the wheels for the 5 robots.
