Do I like it. Yes.
Am I worried seeing I have Cybertron Primus already. Sadly, I'm not. I'll stick with the one I have.

Agreed and agreed. I like it, but I already have Cybertron Primus, so this figure is rather superfluous. Of course I say that while I plan on getting the new Unicron repaint while I already have Armada Unicron, so I dunno what that does to the worth of my opinion.

Then again, I'd rather get the Unicron remold since I already have Primus.

I can honestly say that I prefer the original color schemes on both of these figures.

Definite pass.

If he has to be geeone, I guess they'll go the same way as with Springer/Roadbuster/Breakaway and start handing out red paint and Autobot logos like cigars at a birth.

I think it looks very good, do wish the fists were black, or even silver, anything but blue. I think taktom had a bunch of leftover paint from Animated Grimlock and just started spraying things to see what shined the most.
End note, it's nice, but not nice enough to replace my original.

To be blunt, those who paid top dollar for the original toy probably aren't that fussed about a new version and those who didn't pick it up for whatever reason probably aren't going to change their mind over a repaint. I think the main customers for this will be people who missed the boat first time or who didn't buy it first time and are suffering remorse.

I think they are going to use the market strategy on this guy as "well Unicron was at the beginning of 2010 and he needs a rival, so we'll be able to rope at least some of the suckers with this". That's just my take on it's fit into the 2010 theme.
And Stockade if you don't have the original GF/Cyb Primus and you can get this guy for about the same price as one of them or if you just like the shiny more, you really should check this guy out. Primus is a really great figure and looks quite nice displayed with my black Unicron. Trust me, you'll really dig Primus, the only complaint you'll have is robot mode size when displayed with Unicron. Primus(head) comes up to almost the top of Unicron's chest. Be happy to show pictures of Primus with Energon Unicron if you want.

I have both Armada Unicron (or TFU Unicron, same figure) and Cybertron Primus, and given the chance I'd buy both 2010 versions. Why? I have expensive taste, that's why!
Kidding, kidding. I just like the idea that they're proper (Neo) G1 representations, given some liberties (Marvel's Primus wasn't blue for instance, he was red/orange/yellow like Rodimus Prime), and the orange (evil) vs. blue (good) is a nice idea of contrast.

I'll probably buy it anyway, because I have a problem.

Just curious would you guys rather get this new Bling Primus (Yes I like shiny transformers!) paying top dollar or pick up Cybertron primus with unicron head on ebay (which I imagine would be cheaper) even MISB?
I wouldn't be able afford either one anyway, I am however saving up for masterpiece grimlock and can't wait for July 1st.

I'm not sure it would be cheaper. Nowadays 9000 or so yen would be a pretty reasonable price to pay for Cybertron Primus, and would be an absolute steal for Galaxy Force Primus.

Even though they're the same toy, you'd be paying extra for the G1-style box alone. I just want Unicron's head!

Maybe a higher resolution pic will make me like the colors more. Even if it did, however, I'm not in a hurry to add another Primus to my collection. The guy takes up A LOT of room with all those spikes sticking out.

Except you can still get the original Cybertron Primus for WAY cheaper than this guy will cost. Which is why I'm not even going to get my hopes up about owning this one, as awesome as I think it looks.

Might spend the next couple of days just staring at this pic until I'm convinced.
Posted by Skullcrunchberries on June 23rd, 2010 @ 10:37am CDT
Probably a pass for me, though. As nice as it is, it's not enough of an improvement over the original to warrant how much it's going to cost.

Not sure I can justify 250 bucks worth of toys. Even toys as big as Unicron and Primus.
And I already have Cyb Primus, and I'm sure I'm getting Unicron. Decisions Decisions.
I wonder what the Omega lock will look like.

GOLD PRIMUS remember the Golden Age of Cybertron. In rebirth which is the Western 2010 series after the movie, daniel recdirects the energy let off by Decepticons weapon of destruction, to Vecta Sigma, which returns Cybertron to it's former glory. So according to that episode Cybertron was Originaly Gold.

Except "The Rebirth" never aired in Japan. Instead they got "The Headmasters" as a brand new season.

When I first got a message about this, I expect it to be gold.

I wish it was gold.

The Japanese didn't like The Rebirth, so much so that they try to deny it's existence. (Can't say I blame them.) I can't imagine Takara acknowledging the Golden Age of Cybertron. I could be wrong. It would be cool, but another Primus repaint for the 2010 celebrations would suck.
Nit-picking I know, but it wasn't Daniel that redirected the energy from Vector Sigma. It was his dad, Spike.

No, it was a cabbage!
Bring on the Beast Machines repaint! Change the spikes to trees!
