So I opened the (surprisingly light) box!! Pretty cool looking figure. Lots of "I see what you did there" and stuff. Easy transformation. I did notice then how light the plastic was in areas and I really don't think the tabs will hold up over time. There's no way they can. My other issue is the joints seem loose/weak. He has a constant lean either back or forwards, and his A-frame stance always has one leg clicked out further than the other.

WAIT! Problem solved.

And while we're on this topic, has anyone done a size comparison with a headmaster and a Lego/Kreo figure?

Nice review.

However, if your main complaints are plastic quality, and (mis-assembled) ratchets; there's no guarantee that Takara's will be any better there. I'm still curious if the only modifications to the takara's version won't just be having the "power"master plug into the chest (and they carve that out).

I do find his base mode lacking compared to Blaster. But, disregarding nostalgia, the original PM's base mode wasn't *that* different from the current iteration. I do wish the cab completely detateched (which I guess you could do with a screw driver). Pulling the "back" up would enclose it closer in form to the G1 PM.

Thanks! As I told shajaki, it was more my "thoughts". As far as joints go, I think Takara can fix it. And I mentioned in my thread (I think) that it'll probably be a darker red plastic and of COURSE they'll have the better paint apps.

I haven't snapped pics of base mode yet, but I probably will tomorrow. I just didn't feel like fiddling with all of the bots I had out at the time.

What I'm probably most disappointed in is the legs. You know how the feet have those angles formed into them on the bottom (for the A-frame stance)? He can't stand on both of them. One will be proper and the other won't due to the him not missing leg day, ever (re: calve sections are HUGE). I don't think they were that bad on Ultra Magnus.

To be honest, I'm still on the fence to return him or not. Need to check the options for Takara Legends I suppose.

Takara's is an intense retool so there might be hope for your problems to be fixed yet. It's also not fully revealed quite yet.

I am not planning to get Ginrai unless it appeals to me more than certain TR figures, or if it goes on sale. So far, I am not impressed with Takara's Blaster, so I'm fine with Hasbro's. I hope Takara's Prime is different though.

I was looking at the shadow renders on BBTS and it looks like the feet are completely different. And then I clicked pre-order. And clicked pre-order for FT Sovereign. Yay pre-orders!

Takara Legends Ginrai is due in November.

A bit more extensive, but the legs and arms match, making them a pair. So yeah, CW pretooling all over again. So far I've got:

Crashbash & Clobber
Terri-Bull & Skytread
Hyperfire & Stylor
Fracas & Xort
Twin Cast & Soundblaster
Sovereign & Darkmoon

I'm trying to get a closer look at Brainstorm's Arcana, to see what mold he's based on. Keep mind, Hasbro's not shy of switching out heads!

I actually already knew about those, but I have a terrible memory. XD

Some of them are like a duh, like Infitnitus & Darkmoon (you didn't correct me!), Twin Cast & Soundblaster because their bodies are retools of eachother as well. The Deluxes is where the head-mold switching seems to be happening. :-?

Scram@ why not keep hasbro pmop as pmop? From what I've seen of the leaked images for ginrai, he's going for a different look, thus will be noticeably different from pmop

Depends on how much stock and interpretation you put in about Hasbro's rumoured "Iron-APex" figure

I knew about those attach!ent points already, I just never mentioned them because I thought everybody else noticed. :BANG_HEAD: BTW, I'm surprised that I'm probably the only person that knows how to store Blaster's Titanmaster while he's in boombox mode. Everybody who owns TR Blaster, take the little black thing that goes in his chest. There should be a hole shaped like a Titanmaster's body. See if Twin Cast fits in there. ;)

Hasbro showed it during live demonstrations. And the instructions do show that there is space for him in that black rectangle, but they only show him sitting in it instead of completely lieing down.

If Hasbro has shown it off a bunch, then how come every YouTube review I've seen hasn't shown it off!? Even Optibotimus didn't show it off, and I don't even like Optibotimus because he called one of my closet friends a troll and he got that same friend banned from TFW2005 for bullsh!t reasons.

A lot of reviewers I've seen on youtube seem to skim over details and go on for ages about the same detail so it's not exactly uncommon. I tend to just follow Vangelus and Thew these days because of that :P

Because they dont care about every detail. These toys have a bunch of features, they have to skip a few. Anyways, who the hell cares why. The point is you thought it was new and you shared it. Turns out it wasnt all that new but thats ok because maybe some people didnt know until you pointed it out. So thanks.
