Blitzwing is a decent sized Voyager, though his head in the package seems as if it's the same color as his main body. It's possible these are packaging test shots, and not entirely finished products, as Blitzwing has been shown to have a darker colored head at his reveal, and in all renders we've seen. Time will tell.
These figures should be in the next wave of figures to hit, though with the current wave not reaching saturation just yet, it will likely be near the end of summer before they're seen at retail.
So what do you think of these latest images? Excited to pick these two up? Lsst us know your thoughts below, and enjoy the day of summer for the Northern hemisphere!

Unfortunate, or genius? It is most likely 5mm meaning you can weaponize (or armorize) his crotch.

Does this mean we could place his spike weapon on his crotch and... well he did rip Bee's voice box out of his throat and... I'll say no more

Looks like the crotch hole is accurate:

I know it's extremely unlikely... Doesn't change the fact that SS ROTF Soundwave is undersize and has a significant accuracy issue.Nathaniel Prime wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:I'm hoping to hear that the version of SS ROTF Soundwave we've seen so far has been scrapped and they're starting over to get it right.

At this point of development, if it were suddenly canceled, it would be 1 to 2 years worth of work in the smelting pool.
Give that some thought.

A good deco doesn't make it any better. The best I can hope for is finding a good deal on the original ROTF toy on eBay. It's a bigger Deluxe because of when it was made so it scales better, and it has both the shrouded and unshrouded heads, so it renders the Studio Series attempt an irrelevant waste of plastic.Rtron wrote:Yeah, them redoing the Soundwave figure at this point is not unlikely, it's impossible. At most, there could be a new version in the future, although even that is unlikely. The best you can hope for at this point is a good deco.

Why? It's not like it would make a difference since all either has is the unshrouded head.TulioDude wrote:I'm curious if you can swap heads between the Soundwaves.
For those wondering what I'm on about: In ROTF, when Soundwave is just flying around the G1-esque side finnials on his head are hidden and the top of his head is covered by an armored shroud, but when he's actually speaking orders the shroud is gone and his head has the same G1-sans-mouthplate look seen in DotM.
I was so excited for a new crack at ROTF Soundwave at first...

The studio series figures don't share headsculpts. The headsculpt is actually pretty accurate. I do agree the figure is underwhelming because of the lazy robot mode, which would be excusable if the satellite mode was amazing, but given it isn', it ends up being just a bad figure. But the headsculpt is perfectly accurate.
Also, they probably just wanted both Soundwaves to be the same size in robot mode, scale-wise, given he spends Revenge of the Fallen floating in space all alone.

The head in the screencap I posted is quite different to his DotM head, it has a pseudo-faceplate and a visor, just to name a few differences. So that's why TulioDude might want to swap heads, which was your original question. Because they aren't the same head.

I was actually wondering about the scale since I remember ROTF Soundwave being pretty small. My DOTM SS Soundwave is packed away, but I do have Bumblebee out so I compared the two.
Given that SS DOTM Soundwave is presumably the same height as the ROTF SS, and DOTM 'wave is a little shorter than Bumblebee, the ROTF 'wave is just a tad taller than the ROTF SS.

There is the wings but otherwise the main satellite body isn't that big in the movie itself.

Deadput wrote:I'm still pretty sure that ROTF Soundwave wasn't that much taller then the DOTM version if at all.

Yeah, I don't quite get being this worked up over the size of a version of a character, who didn't appear next to any other characters or intuitively relatably-sized objects in the movie this version appeared in, being technically wrong according to a height stat listed somewhere obscure, to the point of wanting them to scrap the mold and start over. For me, the fact that it's the same size as the SS DOTM Soundwave I have works perfect for me, if I end up getting it.
I get the frustration with scale not being right, Zelda, I do. I just don't think it matters that much in this case.
Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on June 23rd, 2020 @ 4:41am CDT
As far as the movie itself goes, there aresolid references for his size.
One is when he latches onto and hijacks a large military communications satellite. He's not as big, but he isn't compeletely dwarfed either.
The other is his launch of Ravage. He's a fair sight bigger than the slightly-larger-than-man-size murderkitty, moreso than Bumblebee is. So I've always perceived him as being on the larger side in that movie, years before I double-checked the scale chart.
His becoming a somewhat squat sportscar guy in DotM thus always struck me as odd.
I'm worked up because I'm disappointed. I had hoped for an improvement over the ROTF toy (I like the ROTF design) and instead we got an inferior version that's still not even in scale. Fine, it's too late to throw it in the smelting pool. So I'll just hope they get to work on a non-halfassed attempt ASAP.

Well,I dont think the Studio Series toy will be a bad toy, just not the ultra accurate Soundwave that we want.
Here is hoping that the Masterpiece version will be just that.Until then, this is a fine toy.

They should have totally done this. We'll see how the Studio Series one looks in hand, but for now, I think that legends toy is the most accurate version of his satellite mode we've gotten! At least mold and proportions-wise, paint-wise, well, it's a legends toy.

"Guardian Knights" was their group name.Sentinel_Primal wrote:Honestly, I don't really see ROTF Soundwave as Soundwave, just because of the fact that his general aesthetic sorta reminds me of the Knights of Cybertron from TLK (Were they the Knights of Cybertron? I genuinely can't remember half of that movie)
Though, Daytrader offhandedly name-dropped the "Knights of Iacon" once, but "Guardian Knights" was used multiple times throughout the movie, even by the group's members themselves.

I once had the opportunity to interview some former Hasbro designers and I brought up how bad toys made it to shelves. One of the designers passionately stated that designs get changed and more often then not the designers original intent is lost due to budget and whims of executives. Food for thought.

They didn't overlook them, you're supposed to remove the bulldozer mode pistons and plug them into his hands. They aren't the most screen-accurate guns in the line, but they also definitely didn't forget them.

Now, does this mean the final Blitzwing will definitely have the correctly painted head? No, but it does mean this is by no means definitely representative of the final figure.

And you're right that you didn't see them in the instructions, they aren't there, I checked while posting, but it is an official feature because Hasbro shows it in the stock photo on the figure's packaging (and I want to say they displayed it that way before it came out, but I don't recall for certain).
