Like the fact he has some extra accessories and I'll get him for completion's sake. Ironhide is a joy and even tho u feel that those hips could've been done better, the mould is a must have, thoroughly recommended.

Yup. I really don't get the cold shoulder either. The design and TF origami style is outstanding!

Anyway, he's packed with a sticker sheet for his shoulders. The crosses aren't tampographed. :/

Remember backin 1987-88. James Bond Living Daylights got into a similar mess with the "Red Cross"

The reason the red cross don't let people use the symbol isn't because they want to monetize it. It's an internationally recognised symbol for medical help. What they try to do by issuing C&D's is to stop it being used fictionally, and not pervert or alter the meaning of the symbol in any way.
It's so as not to confuse people looking for genuine aid. They want it to remain an image where people can look at it and think 'I can get help here' which is something I can get behind.
Essentially it's the same thing as what happened with exhaust.
The original Diaclone broke the rules, so in order for everything that comes after to be 100% accurate, it also has to break to the rules. If we want to lay blame for it at anybody, lay it on the lack of foresight and respect for intellectual property rights the takara designers had when working on the diaclone line in the early 80's.
What Takara have done here is pre-empt the same issue occurring as it did with Exhaust (misusing a registered trademark, and in contravention of a law which is set out to prevent a moral issue from occuring) and making the product hard to come by for consumers and causing a ton of hassle in time and money for downline dedicated stockists.
They're even putting all the tools you need in the box to let you break the rules yourself if you want to.

Then by that logic, give us a Mirage and a Jazz with sticker sheets.

Yeah, not that I want to start this argument, but the Red Cross has become More about the money than the help.

It's not about the Red Cross here in America. It's about the symbol itself. You're dealing with a toy that will be sold in the Asian and Pacific markets, in countries that have a very real and recent history of disaster and war. Globally, the red Cross is a symbol of emergency help and life saving aid. It's a symbol recognized as exempt from being fired upon during war by international law. While churches themselves are often targets, the medical corps has been many people around the world's only safe place or escape from active lethal danger. Everywhere else on Earth, that symbol means something more than it does here. And they don't want it slapped on a toy with guns. And Takara respected that enough to just make it a sticker set so people had to option.

I don't know people are up with their history, but...
In real life, has the Red Cross symbol ever been used in association with regular medical facilities for the common folk, like hospitals and ambulances? I know we've seen it plenty on toys, but they may not necessarily be based on real life, so toy makers grabbed the most recognised as a standard and called it a day. That would actually lead to a false representation of the organisation, which is normally active with providing health care in crisis areas, instead being portrayed as run-of-the-mill.
The Red Cross trademarking the logo and enforcing it may have stemmed from wanting to prevent this misconception. And guys, MP Ratchet is hardly the first to suffer it: G1 Ratchet had the issue since 2000 in the comics and several ambulance toys (like BotCon 2005 Ratchet) had the symbol altered. Also, trademarking back in the 80's was a bit different, more lenient than it is now in the image and vehicle model department.

April makes sense to me. Two MPs in a month would be too much

And yeah I know things change, but all three of those times stick out in my head..like I read it places a lot..or something..chuckdawg1999 wrote:April makes sense to me. Makes me wonder if they'd try to get the re-issue of Wheeljack out with Ratchet, which would be coooooool for the peeps that didn't get him yet.

It's the G1 in all of us, cause that's where the repaints started (well Diaclone..but more G1). I also find it funny that I get annoyed with repaints/retools in other lines sometimes but don't question it on MP. I think the Bayverse stuff may have angered me, with first release then premiums, then 80 Bumblebees.Cyberpath wrote:When you think about it, it's kind of funny that we buy the same toy again (pretty much,) because it represents a different character on the cartoon.
