I will share this video review of the movie which has no spoilers for the obvious reason that Nostalgia Critic chose to review it without even seeing it. I would be all for a video about predictions, but this one is beyond lame, not even an attempt at making a fun joke.
Plus, its hard to take his word for anything when he says Megatron is always sidelined by a more humanoid looking character and yet he shows Megatron as one of those humanoid looking characters. This is a nonsense review and it wasnt any fun to watch. I too could comment over trailers and just say what I am seeing.

I kinda think you missed the entire point of the video - like he said, it's more an experiment and a spin on his tradition of reviewing the live-action movies since he's tired of reviewing them. Heck, you're proving his point by saying he's just describing the trailers - because his point is that this movie is likely going to be the exact same thing as the last movies. The entire video describes what happened in the other four movies, with the only specific details being Walberg and Knights - which you could switch out respectively with LaBeouf and Dinosaurs/Ancient pyramids/whatever. And I wouldn't call it nonsense for just a single little detail that in all likelihood is just a mistake - if you're resorting to nitpicks when the rest of the video is sound and accurate, that sounds like you've got a pretty weak argument. Everything he's saying is correct, so why do you dismiss the entire argument because of one single picture?

And I've gotta say... yeah, I completely agree with the video. I was thinking of linking it since it's my exact thoughts -- the movies are all basically the same thing with only tiny details or superficial layers switched out. The video is a commentary on the current Hollywood structure and how movie franchises - including and in specific reference to Transformers - continue to be put out despite little to no effort and thought being put into them and providing nothing substantial that hasn't been seen in the first one.

And for what it's worth I thought it was pretty damn funny - Nostalgia Critic's whole deal is over-exaggeration of emotional reactions and describing things in a ridiculous and sarcastic manner. If it's not your thing, fine; but don't say it didn't attempt humour just because the jokes didn't land with you. I got a hell of a lot more entertainment out of this than anything in the movies, I'll say that much.

I'm also not really sure why you're linking a video just to say you didn't like it. If you're at least just linking it to say you disagree with it or there's something brought up you want to discuss, fine; but if you do believe the video is pointless and provides no useless commentary, then what on earth is the point of bringing it up here and ranting about it? I could do that with anything; I could find some random person who doesn't like IDW's Till All Are One and say that what they said is pointless on TAAO's thread, but what would be the point if they didn't bring up anything that I feel could contribute to the discussion?

Even if they found a director that made the Transformers "look like they did back in the 80's", and "gave the TF's character" and "made a movie for the fans", the fanboys would still piss and moan.

Honestly, I think Bay has done a tremendous job and I had a gutful of the Bay bashing years ago. I've seen some piss and moan for years about Bay, completely over-looking the fact there are writers involved (who I feel are more to blame) but that didn't matter, they had to hate Bay.

I truly hope they do throw more money at Bay to bring him back, just to piss off the whiny fan boys even more.

But even if he doesn't come back, Bay may go away, unfortunately we'll be stuck with whiny fan boys because nothing will please them.

And at the end of the day, piss and moan about Bay, piss and moan about the movies ... you're still going to watch them.

To be honest, I'm actually kind of excited at the prospect of a Transformers film without Bay. While I doubt the writing would still not be good and would still have less-than-inspired plots and include embarrassing characters human and cybertronian alike, these are action movies - so primarily, I want to see good action. Bay only just managed to deliver on that in the first movie, and in the subsequent sequels proved that the tricks he had in the first movie were the only ones he actually had -- so it got rather dull and in many respects (Transformium in particular, though there are other aspects) it actually got worse. Seeing that slow motion shot of a Transformer jumping over something for the first time is awesome - when you see it a billion times after? Not so much. Same goes for most of the action; looks cool, but I've seen it so many times by now that it's a broken record. Compare to the Marvel movies, where they manage to use entertaining coreography and use each hero's powers and/or abilities in their own unique ways to create an amazing battlefield. Iron Man, Avengers, Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy; hell, even Ant-Man managed to be great at this. The only one I remember not particularly enjoying is Thor 2, and... well, yeah. Thor 2. It's pretty shit. Point is, the Marvel movies end up having very enjoyable action even though the stories and characters are never anything mindblowing (though I will say I find them likeable enough for a passing grade, unlike say Sam's parents or Drift or Skids).

So... yeah, a new director WOULD be fantastic to me. Even if they fall into the same trap as Bay and repeat cliches over and over and over in the subsequent sequels, at the very least we'd get something new and refreshing the first time round. If Bay doesn't go back on what he said and there is in fact a new director for TF7, I might be enticed to see it and would probably be more excited for it than any previous live-action Transformers movie. Heck, the Bumblebee movie is looking infinitely more promising due to the Kubo director coming in and the movie -allegedly- going for a different direction (something I don't particularly trust, but hopefully I'm proven wrong and we will get something new and awesome).

Also I know it wasn't aimed at me personally; but I'm actually not seeing TLK. The last one I saw in cinemas was Revenge of the Fallen; I only got to see Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction because it turned out they were on Netflix and that day I just really felt like inflicting pain upon my retinas. ... The plural IS 'retinas', right? It's not really a word I use a plural for a lot. Could've just said 'eyes', but that would just be lame...

To be fair two of them are prequels (Transformers one is an Animated prequel set on Cybertron presumably during the war, and the Bee movie takes place in 1985)

I think people are overlooking that Lorenzo di Bonaventura makes a lot of the decisions that the fans hate (He doesn't really like the fans either) and he was always the guy I thought was the worse part instead of say Bay or the script writers.

Heck it was his idea to take two different movies and combine them into one making The last Knight which is probably why it's over complicated.

In my opinion he needs to leave more so then Bay or any of the writers.

Edit: Also doing some digging and it seems that he treats Peter Cullen like crap and never wanted him in the film to the point he attempted to sabotage his audition and apparently refused to let Peter voice both Optimus and Ironhide.

Ugh I don't take anything Doug says seriously in regards to these films because he thinks that the people who enjoy the movies are morons and he belittles them too at any opportunity, also he keeps whining about them and constantly brings the movies up in unrelated reviews which is part of what made me stop watching his content in the first place.

Also his screaming schtick is annoying and old.

He is also a major hypocrite since his whole TMNT review basically was him saying "things change from the source material" and yet he doesn't think the same for the Transformers movies.

Then again this video only exists because he is falling out of relevancy and is doing everything to keep his channel alive.

Sure but I want to be entertained when I watch this guy`s videos. This wasnt entertaining in the least. And there werent predictions. I wanted a full on prediction for his experiment to work but I didnt get anything substantial. As I said, I could do the same, and so could you, there was nothing fun or interesting here about his experiment.

But it was a prediction. His entire point is that with the precedence of how lazy and repetitive the previous movies were, you can easily predict what's going to happen aside from inconsequential details and superficial layers. How is it not a prediction? And personally I thought it was rather entertaining. The way he done it fit his style of humour and satire completely and it worked.

Though once again... I'm really not sure why it's being brought up here when it's not being used to say anything about the topic. It seems more like something that merits its own thread.

Seems pretty subjective to me. Though I personally think it works out well and he manages to give a new spin on things from a meta perspective to stop it from getting stale.

Though, once again, how is this remotely on-topic?

Thanks to an article from The Hollywood Reporter, we have news that China's Dalian Wanda Group has joined the advertising for the upcoming Transformers: The Last Knight film. Wanda is set to advertise for the movie throughout China, using a vast array of promotional movie material. The firm is the 3rd to join the advertising side of the movie, following the Weying Technology and Huahua Media. The film is now playing, so head on out and check out the movie for yourselves!

Wanda will market and promote the film in China through its vast cinema network, while also serving as a merchandising partner in the country. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

.....

Wanda is the third Chinese firm to board Transformers 5. Last week, Weying Technology bought a stake in the film, saying it was entitled to an undisclosed share of global revenue for the movie, including theatrical, video, TV, VOD and merchandising. Chinese film company Huahua Media, which served as a marketing partner on Transformers 4, announced an unspecified stake in the new film at a Shanghai signing ceremony in December.

One more thing about that Nostalgia Critic video: It's not a review episode, it's an editorial episode. His review episodes are for entertainment purposes, while his editorial episodes vary from different purposes depending one the subject of each editorial. In this case, it was one of his editorials meant for thought-provoking purposes.

And frankly, given just how much on the nose he was with describing the contents of this movie that we've seen in all the trailers so far in the same vein as the similar contents of the previous films, I really am not expecting his predictions to be that far off from the final product.

Has anybody else here tried this yet? I just rented AOE from RedBox earlier this evening (a few hours ago) hoping to get the $5 off promo code, and submitted my email address as well, but have yet to receive any email about it. All I've gotten so far are one email confirming my rental purchase, another asking me to confirm my email address for a Free Movie Night promo code, and a third email with said promo code (but which isn't for the $5 off my TLK movie ticket). How long does it take for the $5-off email to come?

There was an expectation for Tyrese Gibson to rejoin Josh Duhamel for Transformers: The Last Knight - as his character from the 2007 movie, Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon - but plans did not go as ..well, planned. Due to scheduling conflicts, Gibson was taken up by Fast 8 during the location shootings for TLK, and it just didn't work out. Read more below, and here for the full piece!

“I’m not in the next one,” he explained. “So the truth is when we were shooting Fast 8, I closed my deal for Transformers 5, and I was supposed to go from Fast 8 to T5.

“But because they shot a lot of the movie in Europe, my schedule didn’t allow for me to go from Atlanta to London in between those days.

“I mean, I was p****d. The goal was for me and Josh Duhamel to come back and surprise the fans, that two of the guys from the original Transformers were back. Josh Duhamel was available and I wasn’t. So I was p****d.”

As fellow Seibertronian Clockwork Animations rightly points out, it looks like Paramount may be trying for the 50 clips prior to worldwide release for Transformers: The Last Knight! The latest one, embedded below, features Cogman playing the organ, alongside old footage. But there are also three more, featuring Hot Rod (with Omar Sy's voice), Drift, Hopkins and Haddock and Wahlberg, more Cogman and general Bayhem, bringing us up to 46 or 47 clips by now - check them all out below!

A friend of mine heard from somewhere that there's going to be a total of 14 tf movies. But the tv spots for t5 have been saying "experience the final chapter". I'm confused. Will there be anymore movies after the Bumblebee spin-off?

There is not going to be 14 movies whoever told you this is either lying or misinformed.

The only actually planned movies we know of are the two spin off films (The bumblebee movie, and Transformers one which is an animated prequel set on Cybertron presumably during the war) and the sequel to this movie Transformers 6 (7?)

The final chapter thing probably means either the fact this is Bay's last movie or that the next film is part 2 of TLK and that is the last movie not including spin offs.

What's the 9'th?

I mean It's possible and we are definitely at 6 since Bee movie is probably already far in production but Transformers one and transformer 6 (7) could always be canned because the movie bombs and with the way reviews are going it seems that TLK might bomb.

We don't know anything about the 9th yet - considering how far away it'd be, I'd be surprised if we had anything at all - but I remember it being confirmed that there are four movies confirmed to be coming after TLK.

These movies get negative reviews all the time - didn't stop all of them from breaking box office records. Maybe 5th time's the charm, but I doubt negative reviews will culminate in TLK bombing.

So this movie has a 13 percent on RT right now which is lower from ROTF and AOE's 19 and 18 percent.

I'm calling Bull since everyone believes Bay's the god damn devil.

Why do people expect more out of transforming robot action movie Transformers as an idea will never be good only entertaining just like how every cartoon has been objectively bad but entertaining even if Bay and every other person left the film or if Disney made them they would still be the same!

It god damn bombed and with the lackluster mostly unknown Rid cartoon and the dwindling comic sales this franchise is going to crash and burn and end just like GI Joe and every other "franchise" Hasbro has made into films.

And people think the Star Wars films are "good" instead of just simply entertaining.

He's in the film for like 10-15 minutes but with his role what else would he do.

He's not even on Earth as far as I know so any character in his place would have a shorter role.

Just saw TLK. I never thought I'd see the day. I never thought I'd see the goddamn day where I walk out of a Transformers movie, not only disappointed, but pissed the **** off. I don't know. Maybe I'm going insane. Maybe I'm just being conformed to be just like everyone else on this stupid ass planet. I don't know. I'm going to need to sleep on this before I just start going off.

For reference, the first 2/3's of this movie were brilliant. Everything I ever wanted in a TF movie. But that last act... goddamn, did the writers and producers just stop giving a shit. I'm sorry, but I need to sleep on what I just saw. I feel broken and empty right now, and I just can't wrap my head around it at the moment.

With the movie now upon us, Deadline Hollywood has uploaded a new story highlighting what they think will happen money-wise with The Last Knight. While the United States don't appear to be holding a strong torch at the moment, with an estimated 5 day total of $70 million, down from $100 million for Age of Extinction, it is expected that international markets will push this movie to be a hit overall. You can find some of the highlighted text below, and you can read up on the whole story by following the above link.

In what looks to be another case of summer franchise fatigue at the domestic box office, Paramount’s Transformers: The Last Knight opens tonight in the U.S. and it’s projected to be the lowest opening in the Hasbro cinematic series with a five-day take of $70 million at 3,800 theaters.

.....

Age Of Extinction per Deadline’s film finance sources, minted a profit of $250M after all ancillaries with an estimated $30M in revenue coming from merchandising — the real reason why studios continue to keep these dusty franchises in business, particularly with the wane of home entertainment monies. Age Of Extinction and 2011’s Dark Of The Moon cleared $1.1 billion and $1.12B at the global box office, respectively, and the trick for Paramount is getting Last Knight to that same result.

Honestly, I think that the fact that it was so heavily promoted, and having a shorter run-time, as well as opening in nearly 4,000 theaters, it will hit 100 million bucks in 5 days. Probably get to a billion as well by the time it's through.

Just got back from seeing the movie and was disappointed with a lot of the concepts, one of them being a spoiler so I will not say. I really hope Michael Bay is done after this...

Having seen the first showing for the Cincinnati area I don't see why The Last Knight can't do what it's predecessor did. The only thing I would have liked to see was more Dinobot action.

The official Steve Jablonsky Facebook page has posted an update from the Transformers music composer - including for The Last Knight - confirming his presence this Friday 23 June in LA, for the Score: A Film Music Documentary, for a Q&A and more!

Hey if you're in LA this coming Friday and want to come say hi and ask me stuff.....maybe questions like "how did you get to be so awesome?" or "is it difficult being so awesome?".....I'll be hanging out at this ArcLight Cinema for a screening of Score: A Film Music Documentary. Hope to meet some of you there!

But if you're here for The Last Knight news, as you probably are, we have a non-update on the full score for the movie, thanks to Jablonsky himself on Twitter. We'll just have to keep waiting for now...

Don't have an official release date yet but it's currently sitting on my desktop

No this long here, but I agree. To be honest, If Sly liked DOTM, witch was a terrible movie for me, then maybe we should take dis disappointment as a good coin :-? ?

And considering Author, no doubt about soundtrack in this one. He never dissapoints.

I liked movie compare what we get in cartoons and comics it kind matched up good little girl parts where little slow hope we get sequel not reboot to see unicron in sequel some new directors are good on series and some new directors are bad where series had left new director picking up gi joe retaliation better than first, batman forever and batman robin bad bat nipples on guy costumes and no bat nipples on batgirl costume costumes don't need nipples but guys get them not female, and city was to colorful,.

If we get sequel by new director it could be bad or good
