Also, i dont know if I am in the minority but I am not a big fan of rooster teeth's animation if GenLOCK is anything to go by. Its not very dynamic, people seem to be moving in a much denser ebvironment than air.

Loved gen:LOCK's animation style. The season was over way too quickly though.

Netflix is definitely a coin toss. They Licence some great series, but have a ton of garbage as well.

Agreed. Even among properties its a coin flip as some of the Marvel Netflix series were good and others were not. Voltron was amazing. She-Ra...not so much. Jessica Jones was great. Iron Fist was not. Bright was...oh, never mind.

 . I couldn't even bring myself to watch that. I was really looking forward to the Godzilla animated films...those were just so weird and ultimately I was especially disappointed by the last one. Ultraman on the other hand...just arrived yesterday, and is ALSO radically different from any previous incarnation, but I am enjoying it.

Expectations set very low. Rooster Teeth is no better than machinima, started as a YouTube channel for crying out loud.

As Prime and nuRID can attest, polygon can be hit or miss. It SHOULD look better, like Cybertron was to Energon at least. Still won't look great, though.

Since its roster teeth we're likely to get seven minute episodes again. Since it is Netflix we will get half a season with the other half coming next year.

And the only alternative is cyberverse.

Ugh...

From what I understand it's 6 22-minute episodes.
I know one of the writer's (Brandon Easton) and he's good.

Just curious if anyone has any recent news about the cartoon that I heard was being made? Love the Siege toyline. Best in my opnion since G1. Just saw my first Earthrise Astrotrain here in IL as well. Where I also found a Siege Sideswipe tucked away in back.
Just looking forward to a possible cartoon along with these lines.
Can't seem to get in to ant of the cartoon versions besides G1 and I came to love Prime as well.
Anyway, first post here, new to the site. Thanks!

First Trailer for New Transformers Netflix Series Released at Toy Fair 2020 #HasbroToyFair

Hasbro sent us the trailer for the upcoming Netflix Transformers War for Cybertron series.

You can see it below

Please let us know what you think of the voice work, the animation (brought to you by the same people who did RID 15 and Prime). Is this a step up from the Machinima web series? But most of all, what's up with Magnus wearing a cloak?!

Here is the accompanying information:

LOS ANGELES, CA – Feb. 22, 2020 – Netflix and Hasbro, Inc., in partnership with Rooster Teeth, today released the first teaser trailer for Chapter One of the highly anticipated TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRILOGY, premiering on Netflix. The Series raises the stakes of the Autobot and Decepticon war with Chapter One having six, twenty-two minute episodes, complete with a new animation look and style that presents the TRANSFORMERS bots like you’ve never seen them before. The TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRILOGY plunges us deep into events that live at the heart of this legendary franchise, with SIEGE shining a spotlight on a critical timeframe in TRANSFORMERS history on Cybertron.

TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRILOGY: SIEGE begins in the final hours of the devastating civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons. The war that has torn apart their home planet of Cybertron is at a tipping point. Two leaders, Optimus Prime and Megatron, both want to save their world and unify their people, but only on their own terms. In an attempt to end the conflict, Megatron is forced to consider using the Allspark, the source of all life and power on Cybertron, to “reformat” the Autobots, thus “unifying” Cybertron. Outnumbered, outgunned, and under SIEGE, the battle-weary Autobots orchestrate a desperate series of counterstrikes on a mission that, if everything somehow goes right, will end with an unthinkable choice: kill their planet in order to save it.

Rooster Teeth (RWBY, gen:LOCK) is producing the original series for Netflix, and Polygon Pictures (Godzilla, Knights of Sidonia) is serving as the animation studio. TRANSFORMERS veteran F.J. DeSanto (Transformers: Titans Return, Transformers: Power of the Primes) is serving as showrunner on the series with several contributing writers, including George Krstic (Megas XLR), Gavin Hignight (Transformers: Cyberverse), and Brandon Easton (Agent Carter, Transformers: Rescue Bots).

“We’re thrilled to be working with Rooster Teeth, Netflix and Hasbro to bring this fan-oriented MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE story to life,” said Shuzo John Shiota, Polygon Pictures Inc. (PPI) President and CEO. “The TRANSFORMERS universe has so many rich characters and engaging stories. Getting the opportunity to be part of the team bringing the robots in disguise to life in this new trilogy is unbelievable.”

“The TRANSFORMERS brand is a global phenomenon with toys, consumer products, films, television shows, and literature, resonating with millions of passionate fans around the world," said Tom Warner, Senior Vice President for the TRANSFORMERS franchise for Hasbro. “This brand new Netflix series will add to the incredible slate of TRANSFORMERS offerings with a truly unique story that will delight both existing fans and those being introduced to the wonder of robots in disguise.”

"TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRILOGY marks the inaugural production for our Rooster Teeth Studios division and we’re proud to be partnering with and entrusted by Hasbro and Netflix," said Matt Hullum, Rooster Teeth co-founder and Chief Content Officer. "As fans of these characters, it's been a joy bringing our storytelling and animation expertise to this project. This teaser trailer is just a taste of what’s to come in this series, and we can’t wait to see what the fans think, especially our Rooster Teeth community!"

The Series voice talent cast includes Jake Foushee (Optimus Prime), Jason Marnocha (Megatron), Linsay Rousseau (Elita-1), Joe Zieja (Bumblebee), Frank Todaro (Starscream), Rafael Goldstein (Ratchet), Keith Silverstein (Jetfire), Todd Haberkorn (Shockwave, Red Alert), Edward Bosco (Ultra Magnus, Soundwave), Bill Rogers (Wheeljack), Sophia Isabella (Arcee), Brook Chalmers (Impactor), Shawn Hawkins (Mirage), Kaiser Johnson (Ironhide), Miles Luna (Teletraan I, Cliffjumper) and Mark Whitten (Sideswipe, Skywarp).

More details regarding Chapter Two, TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRILOGY: EARTHRISE and Chapter Three coming soon.

Hopefully there will be some levity in that to counterbalance all the turmoil of warfare.

I can't tell if this looks promising or not. On the one hand, there appears to be potential for some interesting plots (Magnus going under-cover, Jetfire starting with the Decepticons, Optimus having to choose survival over protecting freedom), and character dynamics (Optumus and Elita finally back together, Bee and Wheeljack teaming up) but the lines from the trailer are all pretty generic. This is either to understandably avoid spoiling anything, or indicative of a shallow storyline. I'm looking forward to it regardless, at the very least it will be a chance for some characters to get some spotlight who haven't in a while.

Except Cog! RIPP (Rest in Partsforming Pieces)

I should hope not. This is the War for Cybertron. The lame comic relief humour of certain TF series of old would be horribly out of place, tonally speaking. There shouldn't be any guffaws at this stage in their history.

I am very impressed (as mentioned in the Earthrise thread) that we finally have new voices for Megatron, Prime and Bumblebee. Finally beginning to cut the ties that bind the series in place.

I was really hoping for something new and different. Not just the same old Great War blah blah blah..... maybe something along the lines of MTMTE or even RiD2015.

I knew better, of course, but I was hoping all the same. Yes, this looks pretty decent, and I might even enjoy it, but it isn’t what I wanted.

Ah well, life goes on.

I was trying to be hopeful, but the trailer kinda let me down. I didn't really feel anything during it, it did nothing to make me excited.

Also, that Bee face is fugly, they copied that one comic artist for that look, don't do that! It's bad!

Well, it at least looks better than the Prime Wars trilogy. Who's the voice of Optimus here? It sounds off.

I agree. Great War, Prime going on about Freedom, gotta stop Megatron getting from the AllSpark.

Throw in a limited cast based on who got a figure release in Siege and it makes for a same old story designed to sell toys cartoon.

"Levity" does not automatically equal "comic relief". >:oP

Yeah it's the guy who voices Prime on Cyberverse. He's ok, but definitely no Peter Cullen. The Animation is definitely better than Prime Wars, but the voice acting went down a couple pegs. Still cautiously optimistic. The story is definitely the right tone that I'd want to see, but still a lot can go wrong between now and June.

One odd thing I noticed though, like Combiner Wars, this show will hit several months after the toys would have been gone from shelves. I guess Hasbro did learn a lesson such that, THIS TIME they are going to just repaint several of the old Siege toys as Walmart Exclusives. Not sure about all of you, but my walmarts still have 35th anniversary figures hanging around, and this will be the 4th/5th use of the Siege Megatron mold...???

Yeah it's the guy who voices Prime on Cyberverse.
It is? Oh, nice. He's definitely gotten better in this season of Cyberverse, enabling Optimus to emote better and have a more diverse emotional range now that he's been put into more non-war situations.

He's not terrible...but I'd rather have Neil Kaplan or Jon Bailey again if we cant have the MAN (Cullen) himself. Also no slight against Gary Chalk, but to me he'll always be Primal rather than Prime,

Also pretty sure Megatorn is the same guy from Machinima's series, which is fine. I'd rather have him than Cyberverse who's odd accent keeps me from taking him seriously.

Cant recognize off the bat any other voices, but there wasn't much dialogue in that preview, which wasn't a bad thing.
